Your question gave me the idea to plan a private Carnival party during our vacation.

We’re heading to the Allgäu for a few days with our grandson, our daughter, and my husband, and since our grandson really loves dressing up, I’m going to think about how we can celebrate Carnival at our little cottage.

I don’t think we’ll be able to have a big gathering in a large hall with lots of kids this year, like we used to before the pandemic. Among our friends and acquaintances—and even at school—infection rates are too high, so nobody really wants to celebrate with others.

But I can only speak for us. Maybe things are already better in other areas. 

A small Carnival party with fun and costumes is sure to be a blast—and it’s better than no Carnival at all.
