That’s exactly what I was thinking—if she calls that chaos, she has no idea what true creative chaos really looks like. My husband wonders how I can still find the right pieces in the jumble around my sewing machine and sew them together :-)))))))
What you’re showing here, I’d call a little *mess*;-)) but nothing more. But no matter how big the chaos is, the important thing is that you know where to find things—and at least the general direction. ;-) I only really tidy up when I’m cutting out fabric, because that’s when I need space and a good system.
OTHERWISE, THERE’S NEVER ANY CHAOS—IT’S JUST CREATIVITY COMING TO THE FORE!! :-))))
“People who tidy up and keep things neat are just too lazy to look for things” 😂😂😂🤣
The best ideas come out of chaos 🤣
@ursulapetra: If you call that chaos, I don’t know what to call my “order” — mine looks much more chaotic when I’m sewing, with everything all mixed up 😂
I don’t really see it as chaos yet…
Although I do make a “distinction” about where I sit. In the living room, nothing is “allowed” to be lying around—my husband goes through the roof when he’s home 🙈😇
In my room, it’s a whole different story.... My desk is currently drowning in yarn, and there are boxes everywhere filled with unfinished projects and skeins of yarn.... I have to store them “cat-proof,” after all.
I’d love to have “chaos” like that, Petra. If you saw mine, your hair would probably stand on end... lol. I don’t take pictures—otherwise I’d dread it even more—but as long as I can still squeeze in between everything, it’s still okay.
When I’m crocheting, my space looks pretty much the same. On top of that, there are cut-off yarn scraps lying on the sofa and the table. But ever since our new little tomcat moved in, I’ve been tidying everything up neatly whenever I stop or take a longer break. He steals my finished pieces and the yarn ends.
I’m a sloth—a real one—and just too lazy to look for things. That’s why my space is always tidy, even when I’m crocheting. It’s not that hard, actually, because having multiple projects on the go makes me nervous, so I only ever have one in progress (and therefore never any UFOs), and unless it’s made up of a zillion colors, there’s never that much lying around.
The scraps are in a folding box that fits next to the sofa, under a chair, or at the bottom of a closet—so it’s always there somehow, but doesn’t really get in the way. Right now, there’s just a piece of crochet work with a crochet hook and a ball of yarn on the sofa—that’s it. Trimmings do lie around while I’m working on it, but when I get up, I always pick them up right away—it’s completely automatic.
Veronika, I wish I had your discipline! I do have to put away my knitting and crochet projects—along with the yarn—since they’re a favorite toy for the cats, but patterns and accessories tend to end up scattered all over the little table… Tomorrow it’s time to tidy up again, since now that the Christmas tree is gone, we have to rearrange the furniture a bit.
I don’t think it’s a matter of discipline at all—I don’t have that anywhere else, at least… it just happens automatically, without any plan. And patterns, magazines, or books lying around aren’t chaos—they’re just within reach if I want to flip through them. I don’t always put them away either; that’s what tables are for.
I keep my supplies—crochet hooks, scissors, sewing needles, and so on—in a sort of storage basket or craft basket, where I also keep the project I’m currently working on, as long as it fits. Wait, I still have a photo of it...
