How did you spend Christmas?

Well, because we were alone during this difficult time, for the first time we focused only on the food for the two of us.
On Christmas Eve we enjoyed wonderful steaks with salad, and yesterday, very traditionally, goose leg with dumplings and red cabbage.
In between, we had video calls with Carl'chen; he is our great-nephew. He is already one year old now, and in his short life so far we have only seen him three times. What a terrible time....
Despite everything, it was a lovely Christmas.... It used to always be stressful; now it is calmer.

I hope you all had a particularly lovely time too

With very special warm regards
Petra

Thankfully, things went back to normal for us, which means we were able to celebrate Christmas with my youngest daughter and her family, just as we have for years, and it wasn’t nearly as gloomy as last year. My daughter’s in-laws were there too, and it was a lovely family Christmas celebration. My son-in-law showed some courage at dinner :-))) He said he’d sit between his mother-in-law—that’s me—and his own mother :-)) I have to say, he behaved himself and didn’t make a mess, hihihihi. My daughter made bratwurst, sauerkraut, and mashed potatoes again, just as has been our tradition for generations.
My husband and I spent the holidays at home; on Christmas Day, my oldest daughter stopped by in the afternoon. On Christmas Day, I made chicken drumsticks in a creamy mushroom sauce for my husband and me, served with bread dumplings and a salad; today we had schnitzel. I still had some sauce left over from yesterday, so I served that with it, along with Brussels sprouts and Bavarian dumplings. I spent the afternoon knitting my jacket, so all in all, they were very quiet days, spent with family where they live nearby.

Best wishes, Inge

It was wonderful again. We’re just a tiny remnant of the family now, and not being able to get together last year was really tough. This year, we were able to do it again—everyone had received their booster shots, and just to be safe, we still kept a little more distance than usual, but we sat together. Wonderful.
On Christmas Eve, it was just the two of us, with pasta salad, potato salad, and sausages; on Christmas Day, we had raclette with the family—it’s so nice to sit around it for a long time… and there’s less work in the kitchen because everyone “cooks” for themselves.

Hello everyone,

It was a pretty normal and relaxed Christmas for us, too, since we’re just a small family anyway. On Christmas Eve, my parents and my mother-in-law were over. My husband made roast beef, and I made homemade croquettes, glazed carrots, and the gravy.

On Christmas Day, we went to my mother-in-law’s for goose, and yesterday we had dinner at my parents’ house. Anton stayed at my parents’ house yesterday, and Olaf and I had the house to ourselves 😀

Anton got a lot of Legos, so we’ll be able to build a lot over the next few days.

Nice and quiet and relaxing... with good food—mostly vegan.
We’ll see the grandkids on Wednesday and are looking forward to it.

My husband and I were alone
Yesterday my daughter came by with her girls and they went for a short walk. Each of the girls got a book. The two older ones go to school, even though they are taught at home.

The two of us made ourselves comfortable, played Yahtzee, and watched TV. On Christmas Eve, we had red potato salad and sausages; on Christmas Day, we had duck legs with red cabbage, potatoes, and gravy, along with coconut pudding.
On the second day, I was alone. He went to visit our children and granddaughter. He had a fun day; I had a quiet, cozy one.
Today and tomorrow, we’ll be eating leftovers.
