(Maybe Back in) Trend: Skirt Over Pants: What’s the Point?

Dear users, dear designers,
many years ago there was this trend where people wore a short skirt over pants. This trend may possibly make a comeback. Do you like this trend? Could someone explain to me what the point of it is, or where the “fun factor” is?

The only thing that happens is that your crotch gets all bundled up; otherwise, it’s an awful sight—as if it were intentional, but totally unstylish!

I was still a little too young for that trend “back then”… But I only looked at some pictures recently and thought to myself, “What were people thinking??”

I guess they wanted to wear skirts but still stay warm.

Well, if the pants are leggings, then it’s still okay, but otherwise…?
And is it really that much warmer? 

It’s definitely for people who can’t decide whether to wear a skirt or pants today :-) It’s not for me. I do like to wear leggings with a long top, though. But who knows—maybe modern young people like this unconventional style. People just throw everything on haphazardly. Add some colorful dreadlocks, cool tattoos… I’m sure it all looks cohesive together. We only judge things based on our own perceptions and standards. But fashion is free, and everyone is allowed to do and wear whatever they like.

Yet another trend designed only for “tall and slim” people.

Yet another trend that’s totally not my thing—I didn’t like it then, and I still don’t.

I already thought it was silly and ugly back in the early 2000s 🙈😂
