Dear users, dear authors,
How are your Christmas preparations coming along?

Nothing yet—I’m not rushing into it. I plan to go through my decorations toward the end of this week and see what I’ll set up this year. I haven’t worried about a big meal plan for the holidays in a long time—it looks like we’ll be on our own again for Christmas anyway, so we’ll just cook what we both like without making a big fuss. If we’re with family, we’ll be at our daughter’s on Christmas Eve—we’ll see what happens and how it

goes. Best regards, Inge

If you make it nice, it’ll be nice—at least within the limits of what I can do. We’ve put up a string of slowly blinking lights and a star outside on the patio. At the front door, there’s a beautiful arrangement with a big green ball. And we’ve already baked a batch of cookies. There’s nothing left of the four trays of cookies. I’ll bake some more tomorrow. That way, we can always enjoy a particularly delicious cookie with our afternoon coffee… or even two :-)

The gifts have been bought, and a few are still waiting in the yarn basket to be made or finished. It’s just the thing for those long winter evenings in November and December.

Love, Ina

I’m also trying to make things cozy at home. Yesterday I baked stollen and started bringing the Christmas decorations up from the basement and putting them around the rooms, the patio, and the front entrance.

My Advent exhibition was canceled today, which makes me very sad. I thought it would work on a small scale outdoors, but all the requirements are too much for a few volunteers.

Our grandson is coming on Thursday to set up the nativity scene. I still need to sew a few of my cutlery pouches for the Christmas table.  So now the days leading up to Christmas will pass cozily, with tea, mulled wine, Christmas cookies, and Christmas carols. I’m looking forward to these days.

We’re having guests over for Advent coffee today. I’ve laid out one of my mother’s blankets. She was a master of Hardanger embroidery.

I took a few more photos and rearranged the decorations in the living room a bit, because my beautiful Santa needed a good spot too

Best, Inge

The window is decorated, and the crocheted nativity scene is set up in the hallway:

Inge, your window turned out beautifully. That way pedestrians can enjoy it too. I think it’s lovely to walk through the streets and look at the beautifully lit windows and house entrances.

Ruth, your Christmas nativity scene is absolutely adorable. Can you play with it too?

Sure, you can play with them! The figures can’t break, after all!
