This is not an advertising thread; it’s solely for learning and taking inspiration from well-made pattern aspects
Dear users, dear authors,
we have plenty of creators here who may not have been around for very long and are still learning how to do all this. Creating and selling patterns is definitely not easy—there are many things to keep in mind.
In this thread, I’ll briefly highlight patterns that I like and explain why I think they’re great. Maybe Operator and Lilaura will join in too. Would you like to?
The selection of patterns for this thread is spontaneous—if I come across something I like while browsing or editing, I’ll link to it here. This thread doesn’t claim to be exhaustive, and certainly not all the great patterns will be linked here—we simply have too many of them in the shop. That’s a great thing, though: the more good patterns, the better.
Maybe one or two new authors will find something in this thread that they can use for their own pattern design. I wish you all the best of luck.
I think what’s happening is that Josefa is presenting various patterns and describing their structure—not the pattern itself, but rather:
Is the pattern clear and well-organized? Can a beginner easily follow it? And so on. She’s doing this as a neutral observer, essentially from the buyer’s perspective.
That could actually be helpful for potential customers.
Glad you like the idea.
My main focus is on the product page, product title, product description, and photos. The patterns themselves may perhaps be discussed later in a second step; for now, we’re keeping it at surface level, since many authors—including newcomers—have trouble working this out for themselves.
Since, of course, not everyone can or wants to buy the patterns discussed here, it’s certainly possible to discuss free patterns in terms of structure and presentation, yes.
This thread is aimed equally at customers and authors. Customers should be able to find their way around better here, and authors should get practical tips on how to do things better, since good “packaging” for patterns is anything but trivial and requires a great deal of experience and expertise. Newcomers normally don’t have that yet.
This idea is really funny

--> Unusual ideas that buyers don’t expect can sometimes turn out really well.
That’s a great idea! I’ve always tried to come up with something to contribute, but it’s really hard. Maybe a few tips on what should definitely be included?
