Money Pouch: I sewed this pouch years ago and wrote the patterns for it—a money pouch because of the fabric, which used to be available
here. WIP Money Pouch: Cut a strip of fabric 1.50 m long (0.25 m wide for this pouch) and iron on some horse blanket interfacing.
Then
determine the height of the bag (this varies depending on what
the bag is intended for). For this model, I used a height of
0.20 m, with an internal height of 0.13 m. Now you also need to allow 0.20 m for the *back*
of the bag (since the bag should be uniform
). The size of the bag flap also needs to be factored in. The
entire bag—body and flap—is cut from a single piece. For the
flap, I’ve calculated 0.26 m here; you’ll see why at the end. All
of the above measurements add up to a total length of
0.78 m for the bag. Cut off the *overhang* and set it aside for the
side panels and inner pocket. The side panels measure
0.20 x 0.13 m. Cut lining for all parts of the bag to
the same size as the outer bag, then sew all
the pieces right sides together and press them flat. Before
attaching the side panels to the bag, attach the strap first. (
It’s easier to do this while the side panels are still separate.) I sewed the strap
by folding a 0.10 m wide strip in half twice. The length is
up to you, depending on your needs.
One more thing: before you attach the lining to
the outer fabric, attach the inner pocket first. BUT
MAKE SURE THE OPENING FACES THE RIGHT WAY—NAMELY
UPWARDS!!!
Before turning the pieces right side out, trim the seam allowances
back.
Have fun making this—I hope the instructions
are clear.
Best wishes, Inge
