My new favorite music

Hi everyone,

the other day a young woman was featured on an afternoon TV show. Her name didn’t ring a bell. But I was immediately struck by her delicacy, and what she said really moved me. So I jotted down her name and later looked her up on YouTube to listen to her music.

And what I heard was just soooo beautiful. It was such unobtrusive music with soft tones and profound lyrics—all written and composed by her. Enough gushing. If you’re curious, you should Google Clara Louise. My favorite song is “Deine Heimat.” Feel free to write here about what music you like to listen to.

Maybe even a direct recommendation? We all love discovering new things.

Warm regards from Ina

Hi Ina,
Thanks for the tip. Clara Louise sings some really beautiful lyrics.
Personally, depending on my mood, I really enjoy listening to Paolo Conte.
Today, during a 2-hour walk, I listened to the WDR 4 chart show. Over the past few weeks, listeners could nominate their favorite hits. The top 444 songs are now being broadcast over 4 days. I walked and walked, and caught myself singing along. Music 🎶 brings back sooo many memories.
Best regards, Petra

I like to listen to jazz.
My favorite artists are Miles Davis, Charles Mingus, and Wynton Marsalis.

Thank you, Ina, for sharing these insights into the music you enjoy with us. I also really like that kind of music with softer tones. And when the lyrics are meaningful too, it’s wonderful.

I often listen to instrumental music while knitting—for example, CDs with pan flute music or Andre Rieu. Among the newer artists, I really like Oonagh. I’ve always enjoyed listening to Reinhard Mey, and of course I still do.

Hi Ina,
I really like your music recommendation. I also like soft, gentle sounds, even though I’m a self-confessed fan of Schlager and folk music. It always depends on my state of mind what I’m in the mood for at the moment.
Many years ago, when I was going through a really tough time, it was the Kastelruther Spatzen who kept pulling me out of my funk.
These days, I don’t base my choices so much on the artist anymore. There are some singers I don’t really like, but they have one or two really beautiful songs that I still enjoy listening to.
My CD collection has now grown to a good 300 discs across various genres.

Your music tips are also very interesting. It’s definitely worth checking out one or two of these tracks.

We do have a CD collection, but it’s mostly gathering dust on the shelves. Over the years, things have changed so that our favorite songs are mostly on our computers or cell phones. That way, you can put together a playlist just the way you like it and listen to it anywhere.

My husband even still has a record collection. He keeps it for nostalgic reasons, but we very, very rarely listen to a record anymore. That’s just how things change over time.

I also listen to music depending on my mood. And I fall in love with some songs—I’ll play them on repeat, for example, when I’m typing on the computer. Like my latest discovery with the soft voice, for example.

And some songs just have a special meaning for us. In emotionally moving moments, you hear a song that fits—and just like that, you always associate it with that moment. I have songs like that, too. Just thinking about them gives me goosebumps.

Yes, Ina, I have songs like that too, and listening to them is a special moment.
It’s true—I’m listening to CDs less and less these days. It’s often music I have on my computer. There’s such wonderful music on YouTube that often lasts over 3 hours or more—relaxation music. I play that in the background when I’m writing, too. “Soothing Relaxing”—that’s what the music is called… very beautiful sounds with fantastic videos and images to go with them. There are lots of different tracks, and I like them all.

What I listen to always depends on my mood. When the sun is shining, I really enjoy the Gipsy Kings and pop hits from the ’60s and ’70s. I just discovered Curawaka—really beautiful music. In the winter, I love listening to medieval sounds in the car, like Elthin or Asynje. It’s so beautifully mystical, especially when it’s a bit foggy outside. I also like mantras, like those by Snatam Kaur or Edo & Jo.

I really like music from the ’60s and ’70s—okay, that was my wild-and-passionate phase ;-), even though I was already married and a mother of three back in the ’70s. Soft music only now and then—I have to be in the right mood for it, because if it’s too quiet and soft, I’m guaranteed to fall asleep. That’s because I learned autogenic training with this music, and I managed to fall asleep during four out of five sessions :-)

Best regards, Inge

What I listen to varies a lot depending on the moment....
From classical to hardstyle techno, I’ve got quite a bit on my playlists.....
It always depends on my mood. I really like Fritz Wunderlich—I think his voice is amazing. But I also enjoy pieces from Peer Gynt....
Right now, I really enjoy listening to the song “Erfolg ist kein Glück” by “Kontra K”....
It’s my positivity boost at the moment.... and sometimes I play it really loud on repeat....
Or Carminho’s fado.... I fell in love with it while on vacation in Portugal....
I still have quite a few CDs, though I only listen to them in my hobby room, and I still have some vinyl records too—and sometimes certain music just needs that typical crackle of the needle. I have some albums on both CD and vinyl. Some just have to go on the turntable because the CD can’t capture the mood....

I got hooked on Daniela Alfinito while browsing YouTube. It’s such an upbeat mix—I listen to it while crocheting.
