Arm knitting: Do you like it?

have you tried arm knitting yet? It involves using your arms as knitting needles. Who’d like to share their thoughts on this?

Well, I haven’t tried it myself, nor do I know anyone who has. But I can imagine it wouldn’t be for my (old) arms. After a while, there’s bound to be a lot of weight on your arms, and I can imagine that would be painful.

What kinds of things do people make with arm knitting? 

I’ve seen videos of very long and wide scarves with pockets for your hands that were made using arm knitting. But in those videos, the knitter is sitting on the sofa and neatly laying the knitting beside her.

I took a look at some pictures. Some of the loops/scarves are knitted very loosely. They don’t look very heavy, and I think they’re pretty. But some are also knitted with really thick yarn—that would overwhelm me. I like the way it looks as a vase or a rug, but I’d rather not try it myself. 

I remember crocheting with my fingers when I was a kid. But back then, it was just a very thin thread and only chain stitches, which we later glued onto a piece of paper to make a figure or an animal.  

I knitted a scarf that way once. It was fun at first, but it really takes a toll on your arms. Tried it once, and that was it. It doesn’t appeal to me—it’s more of a strain on the arms and shoulders.
