There’s so much I’d really love to try out....
I’m fascinated by everything you can create with threads.
Right now, I’m still trying my hand at tablet weaving—there are so many techniques, and it’s such an ancient craft.
Nalbinding is another very old technique for making clothing, hats, gloves, and the like. “Viking knitting”—I already have the needle and yarn lying around; I just haven’t had the time yet. But now that fall is coming, I’ll have more time to sit back comfortably and see what else I can create...
I really hope the adult education center (VHS) starts offering courses again sometime...
@Petra.... I actually stumbled across a bobbin lace pillow while tidying up my craft room recently—complete with everything I need to get started right away.... Once you’ve tried it out, let me know how it goes...
Bobbin lace-making is another thing that interests me—I once watched a woman doing it, and it’s truly fascinating how she flitted the bobbins back and forth, creating such beautiful lace. But for me, it’s also the lack of space that’s holding me back, because these kinds of things need storage space, and in a small rental apartment, that runs out very quickly :-)
I don’t lack space. I actually think a bobbin lace pillow with a work-in-progress on it is very decorative.
For me, it’s a matter of time. I have so many interests, so many chores in and around the house, a grandchild, and I’m still working. Unfortunately, there just aren’t enough hours in my day for anything else.
Bobbin lace-making is also right at the top of my “must-learn” list... but as long as I have little ones and very little children running around 😉, it’s not going to happen... those tiny little hands are way too quick to pull out the pins...
Once my little guy starts school (in about 6 years), maybe I’ll be able to put it into practice.
I’d really love to learn how to sew. I’ve always loved bobbin lace-making. I’d like to improve my Irish crochet skills (I’ve done a little bit in the past), and Tunisian crochet is at the top of my list. I’d also like to try thread painting.
