Dear users, dear authors,
why do you like Bobbel cakes and gradient yarn? What are the benefits for you?

The big advantage is that you get beautiful color patterns without having to join a new thread even once.
Plus, I usually find Bobbel yarn super soft and absolutely comfortable against the skin. I especially love wearing scarves and so on made from Bobbel yarn :)

I think bobbel yarn cakes and I are not going to become friends. I just find them difficult to crochet with because I keep inserting my hook between the individual strands. I think bobbel yarn cakes are simply marketed well; they’re such a hype right now (or have been for quite some time). The color gradients are very beautiful, that’s true, but by now there are also very beautiful plied yarns with color gradients, especially the hand-dyed ones... And as for quality: there are soft yarns like that among plied yarns too. And there are now also giant skeins, so you don’t have individual strands to weave in.
The only advantage of bobbel yarn cakes (in my opinion): Since they are relatively easy to wind, you can wind your own dream bobbel, or have one wound for you. That’s not so easy to do with plied yarn.

I like working with Bobbel yarn cakes.
For the same reasons as Krea-Tina.

I eventually got into them. At first, I used to curse while crocheting because, just like Ruth, I kept getting caught on the strands. But now I only like 4-ply gradient Bobbel. I’m always amazed at how differently the winders work, and it’s exciting to discover who does what and how, or how the Bobbel is wound. I really love this yarn—it’s usually a blend, it’s lovely to work with, and unraveling is no problem at all; the yarn doesn’t lose any quality. I also find the final results from my dear test crocheters totally fascinating, and it’s amazing how different a shawl can look.

I have similar difficulties with Bobbel yarn cakes as Ruth does. I don’t always catch all the strands and have to concentrate very hard, so knitting or crocheting with Bobbel yarn cakes isn’t relaxing or a distraction for me—it’s more like a source of tension and hard work.

I love gradient yarn. I love seeing the transition from one color to the next and how it changes the shawl or blanket.
