Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

This might not be the perfect place for this, but maybe I’ll find a few fellow sufferers here—and perhaps even some who’ve already had surgery.
I have carpal tunnel syndrome, and a ganglion cyst on my right hand is also putting additional pressure on the nerves. Unfortunately, surgery is unavoidable, and everything will be set in motion at the end of August.
The ganglion was removed years ago, but it’s back and bigger than ever. Who among you has already had carpal tunnel surgery, and what were your experiences with it? Does it get better afterward?

Yes, I have, and after everything had healed, I could do handicrafts again as if nothing had happened. The only thing bothering me now is severe osteoarthritis in my right thumb joint, and surgery isn’t an option for that anymore, so I have to live with it.

have you ever tried osteopathy? Many health insurance plans cover a large portion of the costs.
This approach looks for the root cause, such as adhesions and muscle shortening.

It’s helped me a lot.
Often, just a few treatments are enough.

Hi Inge, I also have osteoarthritis, but in my finger joints and the base of my thumb. There are some good exercises for that, though—I learned a lot of them during rehab, and they help to some extent.

my surgery was about 8 years ago.... yes, there are a few tough weeks afterward, but I’d do it again in a heartbeat! No more symptoms, and it’s stayed that way to this day!
