Funny (Beginner) Mistakes

Hi everyone, 

who hasn’t been there... You start something full of motivation... Your mind wanders, and before you know it, it’s happened. 
What has gone wrong for you while crafting? 

Here are my funniest sewing mishaps. 

First, the doll T-shirt that I wanted to make “real quick” from a leftover piece yesterday at 11:30...


Yeah... The seam I started doesn’t quite line up in that spot. By the way, I accidentally cut the fabric wrong while ripping the seam out :D 

Then here’s my harem pants, which I carefully marked out on the fabric fold... But like this, it would probably have turned into a weirdly shaped skirt instead:


What have you messed up before? :) 

Cutting something wrong while cutting out pieces, or occasionally placing a seam wrong—it’s all part of it :-) Otherwise, the whole thing wouldn’t be any fun at all :-))))) ;-))))
Even to me, as a trained seamstress, this happens every now and then, and my seam ripper is always within reach while I’m sewing—it’s not like it isn’t :-(
Luckily, I haven’t really messed anything up yet, but I do make mistakes too. It gets dangerous when routine creeps in—then you can get careless and that’s when mistakes happen—or when I’m too tired, that happens too.

One of my regular habits is to sew up the turning opening. I actually get really startled when I don’t do that.

Just like in that saying: “Master, I’m finished—may I rip it out?”

That happens with crocheting and knitting, too. 
And I’m still a beginner at sewing.
So you just start over from the beginning.

Oh yeah, quite a few things have happened to me. Tina’s mishap (picture at the very top) happened to me with a knitted sweater. I only noticed it once it was completely sewn together.

It’s also happened to me that the seam was on the outside instead of the inside ... during my first attempts at sewing.

For me, the letters are regularly mirror-reversed when I’m appliquéing. I know what I’m doing, I’m careful, and yet I still manage to end up with the letter upside down and the wrong side of the fabric facing up. 

I cut out a St. Nicholas boot from corduroy and, to save fabric, “slid” both pieces inside each other and cut them out on the wrong side of the fabric. Unfortunately, I forgot to flip the paper pattern and ended up with two boot fronts. Luckily, there was enough fabric, so I ended up with two boots in the end.

I once sewed something together on the machine and only realized at the very end that the bobbin thread wasn’t coming through.
