Paper piecing

Dear users, dear authors,
what is paper piecing and what is it used for?

Paper piecing is sewing on paper, meaning graphic patterns are drawn on paper and the fabric is then sewn onto it in reverse. PP, as patchworkers also call it, is a lovely but very time-consuming way to sew patchwork. Here is a small example I once sewed; this style is called Crazy Patchwork because the pieces are sewn together in all sorts of shapes.

A blanket for my oldest granddaughter — I gave it to her when she was a child — then some paper-pieced potholders and a backpack. I think I’ve shown you the mandala before.

Inge is a fountain of inexhaustible knowledge when it comes to sewing. Some very beautiful designs have been created using paper piecing. It’s a good thing you always took photos of everything—otherwise, we’d still have a hard time picturing what it’s all about.

Hello, the correct term is paper piecing, not paper piercing. It comes from the English word piece, meaning part, and has nothing to do with piercing.
