some of you like to start early with patterns for Advent and Christmas. That’s why I’m opening a thread here where you can stock up on new and tried-and-true designs. Have fun with it.

Klausi Christmas Elf

If you’d like to have a beautiful nativity scene with hand-crocheted figures for Christmas, you might want to start early. The figures are about 10 cm tall—not too big to take up a lot of space, but also not too small to make the work too fiddly. You can use up leftover yarn for these. For each figure, I’ve specified which type of yarn I used and how much I needed. That way, you can easily compare it with your own leftover yarn.
Crochet one figure every now and then throughout the year—that way, the project will never get boring! How many you want to crochet is entirely up to you.


Of course, you’ll need the Holy Family —Mary, Joseph, and the Baby Jesus in the manger—as your foundation. This pattern also includes those for the ox, the donkey, and the Christmas star.


Next, you can expand your nativity scene with shepherds and Christmas angels . In this pattern, you’ll also find instructions for two types of sheep (lying down and standing).


And then all that’s missing are the Three Wise Men. The patterns for the three pack animals—the horse, the elephant, and the camel—are also included.

If you’re thinking about making some or all of your tree ornaments yourself, you still have plenty of time to carry out your plan. For example, with these pretty hanging ornaments.


I made these hanging ornaments, which measure about 5 x 9 cm, out of photo cardstock, hologram paper, or glitter paper. Other sturdy types of paper are also very suitable for this.

With a little crafting experience and dexterity, these hanging ornaments are very easy to make.
