Looking for help and inspiration

Hi everyone!

I’m new here and signed up because I’m stuck right now and looking for a little inspiration and some ideas. I won 10 skeins of yarn at an auction because I loved the color (taupe) so much, and I was already wondering why no one else bid on them—especially since yarn usually sells like hotcakes on eBay. But with 10 skeins at 50g each, I doubt many adults would know what to do with them—I have no idea.
In any case, I’d like to crochet either a summer shirt or sweater, or a little jacket or cardigan.
I still have one ball each of green and pink yarn here, and I figured that if the 500g of yarn isn’t quite enough, I’d use those too.
I’m a size 38 (S/M) and I’m wondering if 600g of yarn total would be enough for a project?
And, of course, I’m wondering how I could incorporate those two accent colors?
I’d describe myself as a beginner at crocheting, but I’ve already crocheted a sweater and am familiar with the basics.

I’d appreciate any help!

Thanks for your reply. 50g has a yardage of about 65m, and the recommended hook size is 5–5.5. However, I’d crochet with a 4.5 hook if that’s not a big problem...

Oh, and the other two skeins I might incorporate have a length of 70m per 50g and are for hook sizes 6–7. This could get complicated, right?

That would be just under 800 meters of yardage, if I’ve calculated correctly.

I’d use the thicker yarn for the cuffs, edging, or button band.

I’m not sure how that works with thicker yarn, though, since I usually crochet sweaters and jackets with 3 mm and 3.5 mm hooks.

Or maybe a few horizontal stripes as accents...

Does the amount of yarn I need actually depend on the crochet pattern? I really like the shell stitch.

Yes, yarn usage also depends on the pattern.

That said, crocheting generally uses more yarn.
