How do you do it? Starting a new ball of yarn?

Hi everyone,
I’m just curious how you all handle this. How do you start with a new strand of yarn, especially when knitting in the round?
A temporary knot and then weave in the ends, weave them in right away, or tie a magic knot and trim the ends?
Sometimes I see things where I think, I wouldn’t leave it like that...

When crocheting, I place both ends side by side. I crochet 1 or 2 stitches with both strands.
Then I tuck both ends behind the work and crochet them into every stitch.

When crocheting, I weave in the ends as long as it doesn’t disrupt the overall look. Otherwise, I use the magic knot. I actually always use that when knitting.

To be honest, I’ve never used the magic knot—does it actually hold up when the item gets washed in the washing machine?

When crocheting, I also work the ends right into the stitches; when knitting, I usually tie a loose knot and then weave it in after a few rounds.

When crocheting, I do it the way everyone here does.
When knitting, I haven’t dared to try the Frankfurt knot yet either. So far, I’ve been doing it the way you do. However, I don’t weave in the ends until the very end, when everything is finished.

I always use the Frankfurt knot… I’m not even sure if that’s the right name—that’s just the only name I know for it… I’ve been using this Frankfurt knot for years to join strands of yarn together… It always works, and nothing has ever come undone

When I knit, I use the weaver’s knot—it holds up even when the piece is washed. I don’t crochet; my fingers just won’t cooperate anymore.

Best regards, Inge
