Eyes for Amigurumis

A question for the amigurumi experts: How can I make a little bear for a baby look so sweet? Safety eyes are out of the question, and I’m having a really hard time giving the little creature the right expression. Should I crochet circles out of thin yarn and sew them on, or embroider the eyes (which I don’t like to do, since I have trouble getting the round shape just right)? I’ve also used knots as eyes before, but they’d be too small and not round enough here. I only used the pins in the picture as a guide for the snout.

You could embroider two lines with thick yarn, like in the picture, or even vertically (as shown in the patterns from Schneckenkind). That’s relatively easy. Or you could sew on circles made of felt or fleece as eyes.

For your teddy bear, I might embroider “sleeping eyes.”
I read that you don’t like doing that, but these eyes are just black lines with eyelashes to embroider—no pupils or anything like that, nothing more.
Take a look online; you’ll definitely find something simple there, and it’s well explained, too.

Maybe you’ll find pictures of little sleeping dolls here in the forum—you could use those as a rough guide. It really isn’t hard.

maybe like this, and embroider 4 more downward-pointing eyelashes on the “semicircle.” If you know what I mean.

Start with a magic ring, then work 4 or 6 stitches into it, depending on how big you want them to be....
