Temperature Blankets

Dear users and authors,
what are temperature blankets and how do you use them?

For a temperature blanket, you first create your own color scale.
 Each color represents a specific temperature range. Every day at the same time, you read the temperature and crochet or knit one row in the corresponding color. The color gradient of the blanket is then determined by the temperature on that day. This creates interesting color patterns all by itself. 
As for the size of the blanket, you of course need to think beforehand about how big you want it to be and adjust the pattern accordingly. After all, you’ll have 365 rows!
Some people also make weather blankets and choose different patterns for different weather conditions (sunny, foggy,   cloudy, rainy, etc.). But that’s too busy for me.
This is my temperature blanket as of today:

Ruth has described this very well. I’m also making my first temperature blanket this year and find the project very exciting. Of course, I’m using a different color scale and pattern than Ruth. For me, all the white reflects the frosty days of January and February. Between each month, there’s always a row in a contrasting color so I can still tell the months apart later on.  



For the sake of clarity, I’ve stored my colors in pickle jars. They’re labeled with the temperature values. You can screw the lids on and put them in the basement, where they can wait for their time to come. In my living room, I only keep the colors for the most common temperatures.
