Rachel Triangle Shawl

Your leftover yarn will find a new purpose here. The Rachel Triangle Shawl is crocheted from one side to the other and looks especially beautiful when lots of different colors are mixed. Using up leftover yarn is especially sustainable. It protects the environment and saves resources. You can find the pattern in my Blickfang-Design store.

You can make wonderful things out of toilet paper rolls . Here’s an idea for gift wrapping: a “Münchner Kindl” that opens up. Inside, you can tuck a cash gift or a gift certificate (for a trip to Munich?): a great idea for all Munich fans!
Click here for the crochet pattern for the “Münchner Kindl”!

Don’t throw away the empty surprise egg capsules ! You can use them to make cute little gift boxes for cash gifts, jewelry, candy, or other small items. The eggs are crocheted with cute little figures, and you can hide the surprise inside their bellies.
Here are three examples:
Easter animals made from surprise egg capsules

Empty jam jars can also be used as packaging for candy or as original lanterns. Here are a few examples:
Candy jar: Penguin mom with baby

Candy jar: knitting snowman

Candy jar: Monkey with palm tree

Candy jar: Skull lantern

Here, a hexagonal cheese box was covered with crochet and used, along with Hanny the Bee , as a decoration for the breakfast table. Hanny the Bee makes sure no one eats too much honey!

Crochet and craft... and EVERYTHING for the cat!...
....here you can turn old shirts, cushions, and shoeboxes into a cute sofa for your kitty
Of course, it’s also a great place for small dogs and dolls to lie and sit..
too bad that, as a person, you are a bit too big for the nice sofa.....

Upcycling means making something useful or beautiful out of leftovers. This prevents waste and the cost of buying something new. As long as old things can still be reused, that’s good for all of us. You’ll find the following ideas for this in my shop. I hope you enjoy looking at them and making them yourself.

Warm regards from Ina

Leather Soles for Felted Shoes

You can make many pairs of soles from old leather jackets and sew them onto felted shoes or house socks. Leather is a valuable natural material and should definitely be reused.

Colorful Craft Bucket

A plastic bucket is always very practical as a container. And WE can even make it look really beautiful, so that it’s no longer recognizable. If you crochet around it, in the end it has lots of practical pockets all around for crochet hooks and more. And our current craft project goes in the middle.

Rustico Basket
Why do I count it as upcycling? Because it’s ideal for all your leftover yarn. For this beautiful basket, we crochet with lots of leftover yarns held together. This creates its unique play of colors. A clothesline is worked into the basket, making it very sturdy.

Felted Soles from Leftover Felting Wool

Don’t throw anything away! Simply knit all your leftover felting wool into warming felted soles. Ideal for all rubber boots or clogs. And they make your step nice and soft, too. The felted soles create a buffer between the cold ground and warm skin.

2 Colorful Odds-and-Ends Buckets

They are so pretty and colorful to look at and offer plenty of space for pens and more. What were they in a previous life? Yogurt buckets from the discount store. The little plastic buckets are actually just packaging that gets thrown away, but you can crochet something beautiful and decorative for a child’s room or creative desk from them. And you can use up your leftover cotton yarn nicely, too.

Empty jam or pickle jars either go into the glass recycling container or are reused as lanterns. Ideal for a garden party: put in a tealight and beautiful lights are ready.

A bike wrapped in yarn makes for a stunning garden decoration. Even those leftover yarn scraps that have been sitting in your closet for years and seem useless can be put to good use here.

An empty plastic container (instant tea) and bottle caps, plus some cotton—and have fun crocheting ♥

In no time, old “trash” turns into something super cute: the Frankie cookie jar :-)
Of course, you can also use it to store buttons, sugar cubes, or pens...
