Hairpin Lace Crochet, Hairpin Lace Crochet

Hello dear everyone,

some time ago I ordered a hairpin lace loom online. I’m really excited about the technique of hairpin lace crochet. To be honest, I’d rather not do anything else anymore...
But unfortunately that’s not possible. Now I’m turning to you with a few questions: Do you already know this technique? Are you interested in it? I’ve already created patterns using this technique. The response wasn’t so good. And yet you can make so many things with it: scarves, stoles, triangular shawls, ponchos, hats, sweaters, summer tops... I have lots of ideas for this technique. Here on CP there are only a few patterns using the technique of hairpin lace crochet. I think that’s such a shame. Hairpin lace crochet is child’s play to learn, is really fun, and a crochet fork like this doesn’t cost the earth. Around 7 euros or so. Do you have any ideas on how this technique could be made better known? This technique has side effects, which I must not hide: the risk of addiction is enormous.
If you feel like trying hairpin lace crochet or would like to share ideas, I look forward to your replies.

Here you can see two very nice examples.

Warm regards

Birte

I read about hairpin lace crochet in a book about it. I’ve never tried it, though,

Maybe you could introduce the technique here.

Best regards, Gabi

Um... my fork has probably been sitting in the basket with the knitting needles for 3 years now. Somehow I absolutely had to have one. I just never tried it out. I simply liked the patterns you can crochet with it.
What yarn do you use? Maybe a project will just spontaneously come along that wants to jump onto the fork....
Best, Stephanie

Hello,

when I get a chance, I can introduce the technique of hairpin lace crochet here. We'll see when I get around to it. I might also write a blog post about it.

Basically, you can use any material, depending on what you want to make. For one of my stoles, I used a gradient yarn with wool. The result turned out very, very beautiful. But I don't recommend it for a beginner project because the loops are hard to count. I crocheted the second stole with mohair yarn: the result is fantastic.
For summer, I currently have a scarf on the fork, made of cotton. Ribbon yarn also works wonderfully.
Since spring is just around the corner, I would use a nice cotton yarn that isn't too thick, or a fine lace-weight yarn, for trying it out.

Best regards,
Birte
