Searching for Easter eggs is great fun for young and old alike. But so the contents can be nicely and safely packaged, hidden, and found, you need pretty and practical containers for them. Here are my suggestions for where the Easter Bunny can hide his surprises. For more pictures, information, and the pattern itself, please simply click on the heading. I hope you enjoy window-shopping and making them yourself.
Warm greetings from Ina
Small basket with handle
It has a sturdy double base thanks to an incorporated CD. All around, little bobbles in bright colors add charm. The handle is reinforced and kept in shape with an inserted plastic strip.
Large basket with bobbles
If you have more to give, you need a larger basket of this kind. This one has a wide folded rim instead of a handle, which I find very decorative. Of course, you can give more than just yarn in it ;-)
Small square basket
Here, too, the handle is kept in shape with a piece of plastic strip. The base is sturdy and the 4 sides have a pretty pattern. You can give all sorts of things in it and use it later for other treasures, since it is very decorative.
Round basket with mesh pattern
If you would like to see this pattern in a round basket, this pattern is recommended for you. The round basket has a sturdy double base. You can crochet it in any size you like. For an Easter nest, though, a smaller one will probably work better.
Gummy bear tub with lid
For this model we use a large round tub of gummy bears. We get to snack on them first, then we turn the plastic tub into an Easter nest. The bottom part and the lid are covered by knitting or crocheting around them. A lovely example of upcycling, too.
Small favorite bag
You can hide Easter eggs and other sweets and treasures in a bag, too. My little bag is hanging here in the tree, and you have to think of that first when searching in the garden. After Easter, of course, you can keep using it. It has a sturdy double base and another pocket on the side. The pattern for the flower is available for free on my blog.
Colorful Advent calendar
Yes, you read that right. You can use the little bags either for the Christmas calendar or for the Easter table. Imagine the breakfast table, and every guest has a little bag—filled with something nice, of course—on their plate. I think that is a very lovely idea. You can always give something in the little bags to a friend or colleague, just because, and they are easy to crochet without much effort.
And finally, there are two more
free patterns:
Mini baskets from leftovers
We crochet with multiple strands, so these little baskets are finished very quickly. A few leftover yarns in cheerful colors, as pretty as possible, are enough.
Lantern from a jam jar
Here you can either crochet a lantern—or stop earlier and have a pretty little bowl for your Easter goodies.
