Dear users, dear designers,
here you can note how much yarn / material you use in 2021. You can also show finished projects here.

It’s a cool idea to showcase finished projects here, too. I think it makes it even more fun.

The first finished project in 2021 is this coaster made with 28 g of yarn—a commission from my girlfriend

So far, I’ve used 600 g of wool for projects completed in January—but it’s super cozy, with yak and cashmere.

Oops, I just realized I forgot February. Since I’ve already thrown away my records from that time, I’ll just skip it and continue with March.

In March, I knitted and crocheted a lot of wool and scraps into projects for wildlife.
Here’s what I made:
4 nests—482 g total
4 felt dreys—1,095 g total
One e-reader case—30 g

So, a total of 1,607 g used in March

I’ve now updated my records and can report on January through March

In January, I finished 7 projects and used 1,087 grams of yarn for crocheting and knitting, including a blanket and shoes for my godchild’s baby.

In February, I made a pair of baby pants, a pair of baby shoes, and a hat = 242 grams

In March, I finished a pair of baby pants and a nest for wild animals = 414 grams

So, in 2021, my stash decreased by a total of 1,743 grams.

I took a look at my own records, too.

In January - 573 g
In February - 930 g (sleeping bag doll, comfort blanket giraffe, baby blanket elephant)
In March - 175 g (small doily, 3 chickens, sweater for teddy bear)

Total usage 1678 g

I’ll count my RVO jacket, which I’ve started, only once it’s finished.

How’s it going with you all?

I’ve finished a few things, but I haven’t weighed everything yet. So there’s no update on my current usage.

But I’ll show you my creations

I’ve finished this blanket; I just need to weave in the ends. The baby is due in September, so I still have plenty of time.

Then there was a nest for wild birds

And I liked the colors of the second one so much that I’m keeping it for myself now—I even added a lace border. Oh, and the bench at the bottom of the picture was also painted in July.

I’m also still working on my shawl—I’m a little past the halfway point already

And now I’ve started another blanket to use up my leftover yarn. I’m already on the 6th color.

I’ve been working pretty hard……

It’s been a while since the last post. In the meantime, I’ve crocheted and knitted about 5,004 grams.

In October, I used up a lot of my thick yarn—many single skeins that wouldn’t even have been enough for a hat. I crocheted pumpkins. A whole table full of them—here’s a small selection.

And so, in October, I used up a total of 922 grams.

That made 12 pumpkins and one hat

Petra, this all looks great. You’ve really accomplished a lot—wow!

I somehow forgot about this thread. Back when Josefa was still handing out the monthly “awards,” writing things down and weighing them was always part of the process for me, too. But then, as I said, it fell by the wayside. But it’s enough for me to show my projects in the needlework group. There, I can check how many there were.

I’m still keeping track for myself. I’m not sticking to a strict “diet” like you did last year—I still buy things every now and then. But my goal is to buy less than I’ve already used up. My closets and boxes are supposed to be emptied out, after all. And so I’m still working on weighing everything.

Since I’ve been doing this for a while now, I can say that I’ve already crocheted more this year than in 2019, but less than in 2020.

It’s great to have an overview like this. Yeah, I appreciated that too. But I won’t be going on another “yarn diet” anytime soon. It’s just such a joy to have a stash, and I’m going to enjoy that for now.

That said, it’s a good idea to use up more than you buy. And I actually do stick to that… at least I think so. ;-)

Basically, I do it the same way as WollwunderPetra and write down what I’ve finished (though sometimes I forget to write it down or weigh it!). Unfortunately, my stash isn’t shrinking as much as I’d like, since I have to go out and get the right color every now and then. In October, I knitted up about 600g.

I was busy again in November.

6 hats and 1 pair of baby booties were finished. In total, that was 380 grams.

So far in 2021, I have used 5,887 grams.

I actually forgot to keep posting here over the last few months.

According to my records, I’ve knitted and crocheted a total of 6,086 grams of wool this year.

That’s definitely more than last year. Since I made a few larger pieces, there were only about 80 items this time.

My tally for 2021 is now complete as well.

In December, I completed finished handmade projects totaling 1,249 grams. All UFOs are excluded here.

6 hats, 2 baby booties, 1 infinity scarf, 1 scarf, and 1 baby blanket for the donation box, lots of acorns, and BB8 as a Christmas gift

In 2021, I bought a total of 4,150 grams of yarn and crocheted and knitted a total of 6,633 grams of yarn.

Since I started keeping track in 2018 (I didn’t start recording until October of that year), I’ve used 22,178 grams of yarn.

If I convert that to skeins, that would be 445 skeins of yarn at 50 grams each.
