The new year has begun, and the German Wildlife Foundation has announced the Animal of the Year for 2021 : it’s the otter !

Otti has just caught a big fish and is already looking forward to eating it. With his big black button eyes, he looks at you suspiciously, wondering if you’re going to take his catch away. But once he’s full, he’s more than happy to cuddle with you.

Using the recommended yarn, Otti will be about 13 cm tall. If you want him bigger, you can use thicker yarn (e.g., chenille yarn).

Even the bigger teddy bears (45–60 cm) don’t like to be cold and need a warm sweater now. This one is easy to knit—top-down raglan and without seams or buttons. An ideal project for using up leftover yarn.

When the winter evenings feel far too long, it helps to surround yourself with a little more light than usual. Small light sources with diffused light in particular are a wonderful way to create a warm, cozy atmosphere.

This table lamp is a good example: With its wintry design, this approx. 13.5 cm tall light source creates a cozy mood.

The lamp is made from photo cardstock and tracing paper and is very easy to recreate.

Here’s a cheerful, polka-dot reversible beanie called “Friends,” featuring two playful dogs on the band. It’s knitted using the double-face technique, so it can be worn on both sides. Plus, the double knitting makes it extra warm. A free guide to the basics of the double-face knitting technique is included. You can also find a matching cowl in my shop.

Brand new in my shop is the pattern for a crocheted quilted jacket with matching overalls for small fashion dolls.

Both garments can be crocheted for both female and male dress-up dolls. Colorful leftover cotton yarn is a suitable material.
Here you can find the crochet pattern for the winter clothing set!

These “Sunny Morning” egg cosies are a great little doubleface project to work on in between. With their bright colors and the radiant sun, they really put me in a good mood at breakfast. You can knit the egg cozy the classic way with a set of double-pointed needles or with the CraSy Trio.

For everyone who misses carnival season and would like to have at least a little carnival spirit at home:

The jester hat is not difficult to crochet and can be used in many ways: small dolls (head circumference about 15 cm) can wear it. You can use it as a bottle stopper or refrigerator magnet, or make a colorful door wreath with it to welcome your guests at the entrance.
Small, colorful leftover yarn is enough to make it.

ShantiCollar
is a simple, quick-to-knit shawl collar made using only knit and purl stitches.
Its unique shape is achieved by sewing the pieces together in a special way.
I knitted it with 100g of yak yarn, but any yarn with 200m per 100g can be used.

The patterns are simple and explained in detail.
It’s easy to adjust the size since it’s knitted starting from the neck.

Even baby dolls (approx. 45–50 cm) need a diaper. This one is ideal for toddlers who want to pretend to change diapers. It’s easy to use thanks to the Velcro fasteners.

A few colorful bits of leftover yarn can be quickly and easily turned into this diaper.

With all the constant airing out at the moment, I need to keep my neck warm, but it shouldn't be too big.
So I knitted an AnKaBu collar, which starts in the round and then continues in rows with a slip-stitch pattern.
200 g of cashmere became a super-soft collar, though of course it works with any bulky yarn with a length of 200 m per 100 g.

Here is the pattern: AnKaBu
