The First Snow





Just in time for the meteorological start of winter: the first snow of the 2020/2021 winter!
Unfortunately, the sun isn’t out and it will probably rain soon, but for now we’re still enjoying the magical Advent atmosphere!

It snowed here today too, much to our children’s delight, but unfortunately it’s already getting slushy... 

Thanks for the beautiful pictures—it’s freezing cold here, and it’s starting to snow a little, but it certainly won’t look as pretty as that. 

Wow, what a sight! Real snow! This is what winter looks like. But as you say, dear Christina, it probably won’t stick around for long. It’s great that you took a picture of it for us.

Yeah, it snowed here too—I took some pictures in the middle of the night because I could hardly believe it :-)

It snowed a little here this morning, too. But it didn’t stick—it was more like powdered sugar. On the other hand, the sun is shining, and it’s really lovely and wintry.

My son already sent me a photo today of my granddaughter building a snowman in front of the house. The snow (in Ravensburg) looked very wet and soft, though.

I thought to myself this morning: “The first snow on December 1—it’s been a long time since that happened.”

Oops, snow where you are—that’s really rare, isn’t it? So of course the joy is huge. Thanks for getting us in the winter mood.
It rained here yesterday, and this morning, when I wanted to go to the mailbox, it was of course icy and slippery. I almost landed on my butt.
So it probably won’t be long here either. There’s already some in the higher areas, but down here with us, nothing yet. Oh well, soon enough.

It really is magical when everything gets so snowy... although:
...it could still use a little more...!

Last year there was hardly any at all... just one week of continuous snow cover 

Where in Norway are you, if I may ask?

We also had our first snow on Tuesday.
For Leo, it was his very first ever :)
Well, not quite... but the first one he’s actively experienced. It was sooo beautiful.


Tomorrow we’ll build a snowman if it snows again :)

I want snow, too... but here in Hamburg, we’re not getting any again 😪

Oh, Tina, your little Leo is already so big! I still remember when you wrote here about his birth. Oh man, time flies.

Hi everyone,
yes, winter can be so beautiful—especially when the sun is shining too. That’s become a rare treat for you. I’m happy for you, and for the kids it means running around outside.

Petra, good question. We live between Oslo and Drammen. So it’s about a half-hour drive from Oslo, if there’s no traffic on the highway.
The funny thing is, often when we drive 10 minutes from our place to the next town, there’s already snow there, but nothing right outside our door. It varies depending on the elevation.
Last year around this time, there was already snow. Things just change. I don’t need any snow just yet.

And I would soooo love to have snow again... so I could really romp around in it.
My cat loves to dash through it, and I make little snowballs and throw them.... Then all you can see of the big guy is his butt 😂
And what could be better than hiking through the winter forest... That would be wonderful....
