Winter Walk

Saturday walk. There wasn’t any snow where we live, but a little higher up (about a 15-minute drive from us) there was snow. I couldn’t believe it, so of course I set off in my loafers. It was actually pretty funny. It was 9 degrees here, and 5 degrees up there. But it was pleasant. The snow wasn’t that deep, after all. Here are a few pictures for you. We even went to Canada.

Oh, how lovely. The weather here is turning into that awful November kind right now—gray, wet, and not really cold yet.
We usually fly off to warmer climates at this time of year… I hope that’ll be possible again.

What beautiful pictures. It really looks cold with the snow and the ice on the rocks. And that blue sky again—heavenly.

Here, it’s gotten surprisingly cold (for me, once again). Yesterday morning it was -1.9 degrees. That really scared me, because I still have the turtles in the greenhouse.

This week I was still painting my boards on the patio in a thick sweater, and lots of people are still out walking in just a T-shirt.

It’s pretty stormy here—I don’t like that at all—but the sun is breaking through and it’s dry.

Andrea, that really makes you want to head out right away—it’s so beautiful!
This morning, a heavy frost coated the trees and bushes in the garden; it almost felt like Advent! Now the sun is shining, but the thermometer by the house still reads -1.9° and there’s a thin layer of ice on the little pond. 

Snow is almost unheard of around here ;-) Very nice pictures—thanks for sharing!

To me, these photos are like something from another world. I look at your pictures and remember what winter looks like, what winter air smells like, and how the ground crunches underfoot when you walk. After a walk, you’d have red cheeks and a red nose, and you’d look forward to the warmth of a cozy room and a hot cup of tea. Cold, crisp winter air...

Your photos are very beautiful and make me long for winter, but they also make me feel a little wistful. Everything looks so rustic, wild, and untouched. It would be lovely for a vacation, but I still wouldn’t want to trade places with you.

Dear Andrea,
thanks again for the wonderful glimpses into your natural world in Norway. It actually reminds me a bit of the pictures I’ve seen of Canada.

Here, it’s sunny and cold. In the morning, there’s frost on the roofs, and the trees have shed all their leaves. Just typical November, I guess.

But somehow, every season has its own special charm. At least that’s how I feel.
