I’ve started knitting a jacket again—this one’s for me. I knitted this design years ago, and it’s really comfortable to wear. Back then, I knitted it with fluffy yarn; today, I’m knitting it with smooth yarn.

I tried out a new pattern again. I crocheted it based on the picture (bottom image)
—once in a multicolored version and once in a solid color.

I was referring to the bottom granny squares in the picture (new pattern)

I really like the one at the bottom left. Do you change the color within the round?

Just finished: a candy jar lid cover. I’m sure more will follow.

Petra, I’m glad you like it. I think the pattern stands out better in two colors. The colorful one next to it has the same pattern.

How should I explain it? For example, blue and white. You crochet one round in blue, then the next round in white. But you work each stitch into the back loop of the previous round. The pattern emerges from the double crochets worked deeper into the front loops. It’s easier than it looks.
Try Googling “mosaic crochet”—it’s explained in videos, too. It’s a lot of fun once you get the hang of it.

ruthk, your “Santa Claus” lid cover looks great. I like it.

I always enjoy seeing your knitted items, and I’m amazed at how evenly you knit. I’m a bit out of practice myself. I’m more familiar with crocheting.
While tidying up today, I found a half-finished knitted scarf made with this fringed yarn, just waiting to be finished.

Tried another new pattern, bottom left (green and white)
In the other picture, this is what the mosaics look like from the back.

Thanks for showing the granny square from the back and for the brief explanation. I really like them. Each one is just as great as the next. I’m curious to see what it’ll look like in the end when you run out of yarn.

Have a sunny weekend, everyone!

Petra, your little helper is soooo cute! Absolutely adorable. :)

Andrea, your squares look just great, even from the back. Thanks for sharing!

Wishing you all a pleasant weekend with plenty of time for what you love.

Warm regards,
Monika

Thank you for your kind words.

I’d like to wish everyone a pleasant weekend.
We’re having pork tenderloin with rice and mushrooms in a bit.

Have fun with your crafts. Unfortunately, I have to take a little break from crocheting because my left wrist has been hurting since this morning. I have no idea if it’s from crocheting. Did I overdo it with the mosaics?

I just finished wrapping the Christmas gifts for my family, so I can check that off my list. I just told my husband, “Gifts wrapped, and the afternoon is over.” I can’t do anything strenuous today anyway—this morning in my bedroom, I tripped over a bedpost, or rather got caught on it, and boom—I was sent flying between the beds and the closet; before I knew it, I was lying there. Then, just because it would’ve been boring otherwise, I also slammed my left knee hard—it’s already as unstable as can be. Once my husband had helped me back to my feet, I rubbed some Kytta on it right away and put on a bandage—that way, the pain stays manageable.

Oh my, Akela, you’ve really taken on a full load there. ;-) I hope you feel better soon and still have a nice weekend.

You can say that again—I already have my second artificial joint in there, and they’ve cut me open a total of five times, so I really don’t need to fall hard on it; I just hope it’s only bruised.

Oh Akela, Friday the 13th was already a week ago! You really had some terrible luck, and I really hope you recover quickly!

Oh dear, Akela—I’m sending you my best wishes for a speedy recovery, too. That can really hurt.

I had a similar experience once at work while making a bed—I was trying to walk around the bed, got caught on the foot of the bed, and fell. There was an armchair with a wooden backrest right across from me, and I slammed my chest right into that corner. It hurt for ages. People told me I was as white as a sheet.

Thanks, everyone! Things are actually going even better today than I expected—since I rubbed in the ointment thoroughly, my knee didn’t even turn blue.
I spruced up some old stools today; you can see them here:
