Dear users, dear authors,
How long would you spend crafting if you had enough time? What would you make? When would you lose interest?
Tell me about it.
I actually have unlimited time for my crafts—I’ve been retired for four years, and my husband has been retired since this past spring. We just take the time to do it and enjoy pottering away without having to keep an eye on the clock. Our *workshops* are right across the hall, so we can talk normally without having to shout whenever we feel like it. I only lose the desire to do crafts or sew when I’m in a lot of pain—that’s when I can’t concentrate anymore. And since I have a sewing room now, I just turn off my machines and close the door; I can leave everything exactly as it is, because **this is my kingdom and my workshop**.
Since I’m retired but still work freelance on the side, my time for crafting is unfortunately limited.
If I had unlimited time, I’d actually start sewing again. I really enjoyed that many years ago. Plus, I could bring many of my ideas to life—ideas that are just swirling around in my head right now. Somehow, it feels like paradise to me.
I don’t think I’ll ever lose my passion for it. This hobby is simply too versatile for that.
One of our friends once said to me during a visit: “You knit or crochet just about everything that doesn’t get away fast enough.” That really made me laugh, because there are so many knitted and crocheted things all around us. ....... And just looking around, I’m already getting a new idea for what I can make with my leftover yarn. :-)
Of course, having more time for crafts would be wonderful so I could do all my projects, but I wonder if my hands would cooperate? Sometimes they tingle so much that I can barely hold the needles, especially in the morning. Being able to sew more would also be a dream, and there are new techniques I’d like to try…
I’d really love to have unlimited time for crafts—sometimes I just have to take a break for days on end because there’s simply too much to do on the property, and I still have a little while to go until retirement. I’m at home and self-employed, working from here
At the moment, I only use my sewing machine for alterations, and my fabric stash isn’t getting any smaller.
What I’d really need as well, though, if I had unlimited time for crafts, would be hours-long neck massages :)—sometimes the tension is unbearable.
If I had unlimited time, I’d take up spinning. I’ve already taken a class and even chosen a spinning wheel. But when am I supposed to do it? I’d have to give up something else, and I just can’t decide what.
I’d be interested in pottery. I’d love to take a pottery class. I’d also like to try wet felting.
If I had unlimited time, I’d try out so much more—including knitting—which I just don’t have time for right now.
I still have so many ideas, but with my 80% job, I simply don’t have the time, even though I enjoy my work.
Since I’m currently working only two days a week, I have plenty of time for crafts. Because my husband is on short-time work and we receive benefits from the government, I have to be careful—I’m only allowed to work a certain number of hours as a side job.
The C2C baby blanket for my nephew, which he was actually supposed to get when he was born... (that was on September 1) and the large themed blanket I’ve been working on since 2017.
Then I’d bring all the ideas I still have in my head to life... Create all kinds of designs.
