I like to give the men in my family gifts that keep them warm. So here are my suggestions, all of which have been tried and tested successfully many times in my family. For more pictures, information, and the pattern, just click on the headings.

A Loop Scarf
My tip: best in a solid color and made with very soft wool. If your sweetheart doesn’t like it, you can always wear it yourself. You can’t go wrong with this.



Felt Boots with Turn-Down Cuffs
My tip: Men only want dark colors like gray, charcoal, brown, or blue. But all felt shoes keep your feet warm, no matter what color they are.

The scarf is an elegant scarf with a subtle pattern and narrow red stripes - for all men who like things simple.

As always, the pattern is richly illustrated and describes all steps in detail. A crochet chart is also included. Since only basic crochet skills are needed, the pattern is also great for beginners.

The scarf shown is 220 cm long and 33 cm wide - but it can easily be adjusted in length and width. It was crocheted with 4-ply gradient yarn cake 150 g/570 m (50% cotton, 50% acrylic, yardage approx. 190 m/50 g).

The table runner is not a “quick side project” - the stitches themselves are not difficult, but because of the color changes, a little focused work and experience are necessary.

The table runner was crocheted from around 170g cotton yarn (e.g. Gründl Cotton Fun, LL 115m/50g) and measures approx. 67cm x 47cm.

Hats for the men in the family—all hats can be knitted in sizes from 30 cm up to a head circumference of 55 cm.

For both hats, you should know how to knit and purl stitches. I knitted my hats with a set of double-pointed needles. The pattern is detailed and written out round by round, so even beginners with a little practice will manage well. 

If you ever run out of ideas while picking out gifts and still have one or two men left on your list, an explosion box could be your savior.

Of course, you’ll still need to figure out what to put inside such a box, but in this unique packaging, even the smallest item comes across as original and one-of-a-kind.



This box is made of photo cardstock, decorated with patterned paper (which you’ll receive as a digital file), and measures approximately 10 x 10 x 10 cm. The two drawer boxes each measure approximately 9.8 x 5 x 9.5 cm, and the tea light holder card measures approximately 9.8 x 9.8 cm.
