Hello Josefa and anyone else interested,
Scrapbooking is a broad field. In the broadest sense, it involves creating and designing albums, books, and cards. It always involves combining different elements: beautiful papers, photos, decorative elements, flowers, ribbons, beads, die-cut pieces, etc.
Die-cutting templates are made of metal. They’re placed on a sheet of paper and pushed through a die-cutting machine under pressure. This essentially saves you the trouble of cutting them out by hand. Some can even emboss the paper. In my example photos, you’ll see lots of decorative flourishes that were cut out using a die-cutting template. But you can also do scrapbooking without die-cutting templates—you just have to combine beautiful elements—and everyone has done that to some extent.
Here’s an example of my own work. I made a personalized photo memory album for my mom for her 70th birthday. I started with photos from her life, which I then arranged alongside other items from that era. Unfortunately, for copyright reasons, I can’t show you the best ones. But we simply brought the different decades back to life. I also gave her a gift basket filled with all the things she remembered from back then and that were still available.
Best regards, Ina
The fold-out album was a sturdy white blank with a binding mechanism. First, I covered it all around with white, washable foil. Inside, I glued patterned foil onto the blank. Then came the design: on the outside, I used wallpaper from a wallpaper sample book, and the left edge was die-cut.
