Summer to enjoy...

Hello, everyone,

we have a plum tree in our garden—and it’s sooo productive. Every day, it drops its ripe plums onto the lawn. We gather them up and use them to bake plum cake (yeast dough) with crumble topping. And since you can’t eat that much cake all at once, we always freeze plenty for the fall and winter. Just

imagine whipped cream and coffee with that picture. That’s exactly what I’m having right now. I hope you’re all taking good care of yourselves and treating yourselves to something nice.

OH, Ina, that really makes my mouth water! I’m going to start making the last strawberry cake right now!

Yum yum yum—I’d love to enjoy a slice too. When I was a kid, we had seven plum and damson trees in the garden; my mom baked so many cakes and preserved so much plum butter. Okay, there were five of us siblings, so a baking tray like that didn’t last long :-)

Oh, how delicious!! :) Yes, I can totally picture that.

I made vegan chocolate mousse for us today—it was also super delicious.

Dear Akela, I can well believe it: with five siblings, a baking sheet of cake is gone in a flash. But if you had seven plum trees, at least there was always plenty of fruit. Unfortunately, you still have to bake the cake. Your mom must have been a very hard-working woman.

Strawberry cake, vegan chocolate mousse, and the planned plum turnovers—that all sounds delicious, too. You just have to treat yourself sometimes!

Plums and yeast dough—that makes my mouth water.

I’ve been testing lots of yeast dough recipes over the past few weeks, and I’m finally satisfied.
My yeast rolls were filled with yogurt, cherries, and apricots... Once the plums are ripe, I’ll definitely bake some more.

Wow, those yeast swirls look delicious, too. I also really enjoy baking small pastries like that with yeast—always a few extra to keep on hand. 

I’ll also serve it with some homemade cherry jam and plum compote.
