Dear users, dear authors,
if you have lots of leftover yarn in different colors, then this is your thread. Crocheting or even knitting lots of granny squares that are then sewn together into a blanket is just one of many possibilities. Our authors are sure to have exciting ideas on this topic. Just stay tuned.

@Autoren,
2-3 patterns per author are enough. Don’t forget links, images, info, etc.

Christmas may still be a long way off, but it certainly doesn’t hurt to get started on this project now: a beautiful handmade crocheted nativity scene!
Here you can crochet up all your many little colorful leftover yarn scraps to your heart’s content and let your creativity run free. You’ll have lots of little moments of success, because each individual figure is quick to crochet.

You decide yourself how many nativity figures you want to crochet. That’s why I also wrote 3 individual patterns, so you can keep expanding your nativity scene:

Basic set: Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus in the manger, ox, donkey, poinsettia

1st expansion: 3 different shepherds, sheep, Christmas angel

2nd expansion: Three Wise Men, camel, elephant, horse

For each figure, I’ve listed which yarn I used and how much. That way you can compare it with your yarn stash as easily as possible.
Pick out your leftover yarn, and you can get started right away. Start now, and by Christmas you’ll have your very own personal nativity scene!
I hope you have lots of fun crocheting!

Crochet Pattern for a Shawl

The pattern spans 2 rows, and you should be familiar with chain stitches, single crochet, and double crochet. For this shawl, I crocheted together 400 grams of assorted leftover yarn: merino yarn, mohair yarn, angora, and blended yarns

Crochet Pattern for a Blanket

The same pattern, only knitted as a square, but here too I crocheted with different colors of the same yarn. The size can be customized.

You can’t start an Advent calendar early enough. How about 23 colorful gnomes in different sizes, all of which can be filled? Then on December 24, there’s the gnome house where they can live.

The gnomes and the house are very easy to crochet, even for beginners with basic skills. It’s a great way to use up leftover yarn.

For the Tamburin Shawl, 5–7 small amounts of leftover yarn (about 20 g each) are knitted together with a 100 g skein, but you can also use only leftover yarn.
There are 2 stitch patterns, which are explained in detail and also shown in charts.

The Mureki tablecloth is a large project that you can make either from one large cake or from several small ones.
You don’t have to sew, as the individual parts flow seamlessly into one another.

Mureki is designed so that you can finish the tablecloth after any part and it will still look complete.

I chose warm colors that fit well with fall and winter.
If you use yarn with a lurex thread, Mureki becomes the eye-catcher of your Christmas table.

The 13-page PDF file is suitable for advanced crocheters.

A blanket made from many different granny squares

There are now 8 different granny squares, all of which fit together in size. Whether you use a single color, two colors like here, or a colorful mix of your leftover yarn—it’s entirely up to you.

All granny squares are described round by round in written instructions, and you’ll also find crochet charts.

I’ve put together a collection for you so you can see all the granny squares at a glance.

This blanket was one of my leftover-yarn projects years ago. It was a Christmas gift for one of my grandsons, and he still loves it today. I knitted rectangles in garter stitch and then crocheted them together with black yarn.

Here are my favorite ideas for colorful leftover yarn projects.

No. 1 - a baby or children's blanket "African Flowers"

You choose the colors and then crochet looots of hexagons and half hexagons. These are then crocheted together and edged. The blanket size is variable. Every blanket will be one of a kind.

And here’s No. 2: a beautiful, colorful “African Flowers” pillow. It’s also crocheted from many individual hexagons and half-hexagons. These are crocheted together. Then just sew on some buttons, and you’re done. This gives you a pretty and one-of-a-kind pillow cover.

And here’s a third suggestion: How about turning your leftover yarn into lots of little pouches? These would make a wonderful Advent calendar for your children or grandchildren. The pattern includes a printable template for the numbers 1 through 24. ... With two grandchildren, you’d need 48 pouches, so you’d better get started now ;-)

This blanket was also a yarn-scrap project; it’s not even that old—I made it about 3 years ago. I started with 3 stitches and then kept increasing until I reached the width I wanted, then I started decreasing again. The blanket is pretty square and measures about 130 cm x 130 cm—perfect for when your legs get cold :-)

Owl Eleonore

Leftover yarn doesn’t have to sit unused in a drawer. With Eleonore, you can give it a new shape and use it as a doorstop or simply as decoration.

For the body, you’ll need 60 g of cotton yarn with a length of 125 m/50 g; for the head, 40 g of the same cotton yarn is needed.

How to crochet bobbles is explained in the written pattern.

Table Runner "Endless"

For the size shown, you will need 50 g of cotton in blue and 50 g of cotton in peacock by Catatania.

You can also crochet the runner in a colorful mix of many different colors, or in one main color with many different other colors.

The crochet pattern includes both the written version with progress photos and a chart.
