Hello to the readers and authors, this week I’d like to know whether you already have all your Christmas gifts together? How many of them have you made yourselves, and how many were bought?
We could also collect a few gift tips for everyone who still needs gifts but doesn’t have any ideas.
Ideally, these should be things you can find among the patterns in the shop or still order in the short time before Christmas, so the package can still be delivered.
Gift tips for
your sweetheart
babies and newborns
little boys
little girls
teenagers
adult children
parents
mother-in-law / father-in-law
aunts and uncles, other relatives
good friends
nice colleagues
nice acquaintances
people you don’t like that much, but whom you have to give something to out of politeness What comes to mind for each of these as a good gift idea?
This year, I crocheted something for everyone in the family. You can find the patterns in my shop
Teenage cousins: 1st cousin: a hamster, because he has a hamster; 2nd cousin: a Lego figure, because even after all these years, he still loves building with Lego.
Aunt Sabine: of course the bee ; )
Uncle Wolfgang: of course the wolf ; )
Another aunt: the African, it goes with her Sarotti doll
Dad: Nessie, because he still owes me a Nessie from Scotland, even after more than 20 years.
Stepmom: Grobi, because she likes Sesame Street
Teenage half-brother: Bookworm, because he likes reading
Other teenage half-brother: Giant Fluffy (still in progress), that was the very first thing he said when I asked him what he wanted, and it suits a Harry Potter fan. For his birthday, he got the Playboy Bunny, because he likes the brand.
Adult cousin: okapi, because she likes Africa, and especially that animal.
Godmother: lighthouse
Grandma: female garden gnome; for her birthday, she got the mole, because she loves gardening
Uncle: for the hobby griller, a barbecue sausage
And for the dog, a dog ; )
I’m already hard at work preparing for Christmas, too. We have lots of homemade gifts under our tree—whether they’re photo books, calendars, crocheted items, knitted items, or sewn items... Since my family and friends are, of course, familiar with my patterns and see what’s possible, they have a few requests of their own :-). Handmade items are always one-of-a-kind and are greatly appreciated.
Of course, there are also a few store-bought items under the tree. I think it’s the mix that makes it special.
I wish you all a wonderful holiday season, a Merry Christmas, and, of course, lots of joy in giving gifts.
My husband and I don’t exchange gifts, but my parents will of course get a little something. I won’t be knitting anything for them, though—my mom has been knitting again herself for a while now, so accessories like yarn or knitting needles make more sense for her.
I’ve come up with something special for my dad, and I’m not even sure yet if it’ll work.
There’s a series on Bayerischer Rundfunk that my parents (and I) really enjoy watching, and they release calendars for it every year.
So I had the idea to ask the editorial team if they could get me a calendar with as many autographs from the cast as possible.
I should mention that my father has lung cancer, and we don’t know if this will be the last Christmas we celebrate together.
My goal with this gift is to bring him real joy, because he doesn’t have much to be happy about right now.
The editorial team replied very kindly, saying they’d do their best, and now I’m eagerly waiting every day for them to get back to me.
