Quietly and comfortably at home—we’ve had enough hustle and bustle all year, so we want to keep things calm and quiet this evening.

We’ll be at home—mainly to look after our two cats, since there’s going to be a lot of fireworks in the neighborhood. This year, for the first time, we’re celebrating with our daughter’s boyfriend’s family. We’re having raclette. I’m really looking forward to it :-)

We’ll be spending it quietly at home too, since we’ve had our hands full this year.
I’m really looking forward to some peace and quiet.

It’s just the two of us—my husband and I—so we’ll curl up on the couch and watch the New Year’s Eve show on TV.
I have to work anyway, so I won't be going to bed too late.

Here in Norway, fireworks aren't really a big deal anyway, because of all the wooden houses. The Norwegians set off fireworks before midnight because they get together afterward to celebrate. So after midnight, it's dead quiet here. That's fine, too. I have to work on January 1st this time as well.

My husband and I will be at home. Our two cats are experiencing their first New Year’s Eve. I’m curious to see what they’ll get up to. Our previous cats used to hide in a windowless room. For our dwarf rabbits, we’ll darken the window with the roller shade.
And as for me, I’m not really a fan of New Year’s Eve.

We’ll be having raclette with friends—everyone brings something. We’ve been doing this for years; it’s cozy, cheerful, delicious, and peaceful.
Every now and then, we’ve had to spend the night there because the taxi we ordered didn’t show up or the weather made it impossible to get home.
Let’s see what this New Year’s Eve has in store for us.

This year, we’ll be on our own for the first time. Both kids are celebrating with friends, so we can make ourselves comfortable, cook something nice, and enjoy the evening in peace.

We’ll be cozying up at home with friends and enjoying healthy treats like vegetable chips, pizza bites, pumpkin quiche, and red wine.

Just like many of you here.

As a couple, we’ll be cozying up at home, too.

Wishing you all a “HAPPY NEW YEAR.”

We’ll leave the New Year’s Eve party to the young folks! The two of us will be cozying up at home, too. Until two years ago, we used to go to the New Year’s Eve concert in the late afternoon. Now it’s turned into the City Orchestra’s New Year’s Concert… We’re really looking forward to it!
Wishing everyone a cozy, peaceful New Year’s Eve

It’s going to be a relatively quiet affair this year. My ex-husband has invited me over for red potato salad and smoked eel, along with non-alcoholic wheat beer. Instead of setting off fireworks, we’ll head out to the dike to watch them. Since some of the houses have new owners, we’ll see if the neighborhood toast happens this time around.
My thoughts are with my “surrogate mom” (91), who’s been in the hospital for several weeks now after her third stroke.

Wishing everyone who’s sick a speedy recovery. May you all ring in the New Year healthy and safe.
Best regards, Marlies

We’ll have a cozy New Year’s Eve.
A few more errands to run.
There will be spring rolls with sweet-and-sour sauce.
Mochi and cookies for dessert.
Later, we’ll watch the fireworks from the balcony.

I’ll be crocheting in front of the tiled stove… I really want to turn all these new ideas into patterns, and the only way I can do that is by working through them… My husband is next door in his recording studio and will also be working until midnight…Where we live now, there are no firecrackers or fireworks... it’s sure to be a nice, quiet New Year’s Eve... just the two of us under the starry sky with a glass of champagne..... I wish all my colleagues, customers, and the team at CP a Happy New Year, much success, and a peaceful start to the new, wild Twenties!

I have to work today, and then I’ll drive out to my parents’ place in the country this evening. I’ll toast the New Year with my neighbors on the street at midnight, and then continue knitting “New Year’s Eve socks” with my mom in a cozy little gathering. Ever since I started spending New Year’s Eve at my parents’ with my dog, it’s kind of become a tradition. This year is my first New Year’s Eve without my dog, and somehow I still don’t want to break the tradition of knitting socks on New Year’s Eve. Besides, it’s quieter in the countryside than in the city—though there are still fireworks.

I wish everyone here a happy New Year (but not too wild), lots of success in 2020, and a joyful—and above all, healthy—New Year!!!
