Cable Pattern Scarf Meeresgrund
A great mix of different cable and lace patterns makes up the “Meeresgrund” scarf.
It was knitted with a gradient yarn cake, Lady Dee´s Traumgarne W03 Meeresgrund 4-ply (70% acrylic, 30% wool), 750 m, 300 g
Alternative: Merino 120 (50 g/120 m for needle size 3 1/2 - 4 1/2), approx. 7 skeins
Circular knitting needle size 5.5 and matching cable needle
Stitch markers
The pattern does not use a knitting chart and is written in both text and table form.
In a photo tutorial, I also explain all the cabling steps, so knitting beginners are very welcome to give this pattern a try too!

My “Good Mood” Scarf stands out thanks to its color selection.
With a 4-ply yarn cake with 1200 m running length or 300 g in sock weight, you can knit a large scarf in a simple pattern that can also be worn as a stole.
The pattern is explained row by row and is also shown in a chart.

Beginner-friendly knitting patterns for scarves.

For all models, you only need to know knit and purl stitches. Click here to go to the pattern for the "Nights in Toronto" scarf.

Cable look without any cable needle. In all patterns, you’ll find written row-by-row instructions for the pattern repeat, and a knitting chart is also included if you prefer to work from that. Click here to go to the knitting pattern for the "LiMaZo" scarf.

This model also gets its unusual shape from alternating knit and purl stitches. For this model, I recommend a yarn with a long yardage. Click here to go to the pattern and yarn suggestions.

What are modern scarves? In my opinion, they should look great, be cuddly soft, and casual. Here are my suggestions for you:

My new favorite is the Universal Loop.
A loop scarf is basically a circular scarf. This one is knitted from such smooth, supple merino yarn that you can also wear it pulled through once like a scarf. So today as a loop scarf and tomorrow as a scarf. Take a look:

What I also think is great is when you knit your leftovers into a scarf. This one is knitted lengthwise, very simply. Just knit several color-coordinated yarns in garter stitch. Here is the free pattern.

In the photo you see light colors, so this one is more for spring. You can knit it just as well in dark (fall) colors. Feel free to mix different yarn types, too.

And my third tip is a slouchy hat with a matching scarf. The scarf is super easy to knit. Young girls especially like this model because it looks so casual and cool. You don’t need any complicated stitch patterns for this laid-back look.

Men like scarves, too—and especially when they feature a modern graphic pattern. Why not make your sweetheart or your dad happy and get those needles clacking!
