For St. Nicholas Day, but also for oddly shaped Christmas gifts, these crocheted gift bags are ideal. You can crochet them in any size you like. Another advantage: they can be reused every year. Sock yarn with a color gradient in Christmas colors is used. That way you don’t have to worry about a complicated color pattern and can crochet the little bags on the side (e.g., even in front of the TV). The “fur” edging is crocheted from cuddly yarn, and I use leftover yarn for the appliqués.

So cash gifts don’t feel too impersonal, you need original packaging. Here are a few suggestions:

Reindeer Wallet
Rudi, the reindeer with the red nose, is of course perfect as a little container for a few bills or coins.

Beaded Pouch
The little beaded pouch can also be used for jewelry or makeup items. For First Communion, it also makes a personally designed case for a pretty rosary.

Colorful Mice
“Mice to spend” are especially popular with young people. You can also glue them onto a clothespin and clip the banknotes inside.

Lucky Piggy
The little pigs are crocheted around an empty Kinder Surprise egg capsule. The banknotes can then be hidden in their bellies.

Bridal Couple
The bride and groom are also crocheted around a surprise egg capsule each: a great disguise for a cash gift for a wedding!

Owl Head Chef
Cash gifts for hobby chefs (or a gift certificate for a special cooking class or a meal together) fit inside this cute owl, which also has a Kinder Surprise egg capsule inside. Later, the owl can be used as a keychain with a chip pouch.

And here are a few suggestions on how to package (homemade) treats beautifully:

Snowman Knitting (Crocheting)
An empty jam jar with this cute crocheting (or knitting) snowman on the lid—you can crochet the snowman in either version. For the knitting snowman, the hat and scarf are knitted; everything else is crocheted.

Monkey with a Palm Tree
If you want something a little less wintry, the monkey with the palm tree makes a great lid decoration. A fun idea for coconut cookies!

Minibus
The minibus makes great packaging for chocolates (store-bought or homemade). The plastic box from a Rocher chocolate box was used as the outer shell. Once the chocolates are gone, I’m sure there’ll be a little boy who wants to play with the car....

Lucky Pig Bottle Sleeve

A fun wrapping for a wine bottle—because a lucky pig always comes in handy!
The pig isn’t hard to crochet and can also be used again as a table decoration on New Year’s Eve.

This pot cover for a poinsettia is a very special and rare gift wrapping idea. At least part of the gift comes from your own Christmas workshop.

It’s sure to bring great joy and is super easy to crochet. The scattered star decorations are, of course, included in the pattern.

Here is the crochet pattern

If you don't have an Advent calendar yet, you can definitely still manage to crochet these cute gnomes with the gnome house. It's super easy, and the recipients are sure to be delighted.

The gnomes can be crocheted in different sizes, and leftover yarn is more than enough for them. They can be filled with all kinds of little treats, depending on what the recipient wishes for.

Best to download it and get started right away.

Pretty packaging is half the battle. Sometimes the packaging is even nicer than what’s inside. I always crochet my packaging myself in advance, so I always have something small and pretty for wrapping. Here are my suggestions:

A pretty small colorful bag measuring 20 x 9 x 19 cm. It’s just the right “child size” for giving away little treasures. The bottom is sturdy and doesn’t sag. Even without a gift inside, it looks great and will surely be used again later.

-> Here’s the pattern

The little mini bags are the secret favorites of all the children and visitors in my home. If you have 24 of them, you can make a Christmas calendar out of them. If you crochet just a few, you can tuck pretty little things inside as a surprise. At the coffee table or breakfast table, each small plate then has one of these cute little bags filled with a favorite chocolate, costume jewelry for the girls, or a Matchbox car for the boys—or a warm breakfast egg... Everyone immediately has a smile on their face and wants to take their bag home later. That’s why I always have to crochet more.

-> Here’s the pattern.

Lastly, I’d like to recommend a very special gift packaging idea to you. Imagine this colorful craft bucket filled with beautiful yarn. The perfect gift for a craft-loving friend. She’ll love the new yarn, but she’ll also find the packaging delightful and practical at the same time. You always have everything together that you need for your crafts. And your current crochet project is well protected in the bucket.

A very special St. Nicholas boot: beautiful, roomy, sturdy, and comfortable to carry (not on your feet, only in your hands :-))!

This boot is made of cardstock and measures approximately 18.5 x 21 x 9 cm. With a little crafting experience, it’s easy and quick to make. Only cutting out the many stars takes a bit of time, so it’s best to start crafting right away!

Perfect for Advent, St. Nicholas Day, or even Christmas:
the St. Nicholas gift bags

They can really hold quite a lot! And despite the fluffy yarn for the beard, they’re crocheted pretty quickly.

This can be used to wrap anything that isn’t too large and can be easily folded or compressed, such as small shawls, scarves, socks, gloves, hats, and similar items. Small toys and sweets can also be safely stored here until they may be unwrapped.

The star is made of cardstock and measures approx. 16.5 x 18.5 x 6 cm. It isn’t difficult to make, but you should already have some crafting experience.
