For all Halloween fans, here’s a great decoration idea:
some black and gray yarn, a crochet hook, some stuffing, and an LED string of lights—that’s all you need to make a simple yet striking Halloween decoration:

The little bats are really easy to crochet and quick to make. You can also attach them to a mobile star instead of a string of lights.

It’s slowly becoming time to start thinking about Christmas decorations. If you have lots of different small leftovers of yarn, hand-crocheted nativity figures would be a great project for using them up. Since everyone has different leftover yarn at home, this will create your own very personal, unique Christmas nativity scene that no one else has.

As a basic set, you’ll of course need the Holy Family with the ox, donkey, and Christmas star:

If you still have the time and inclination, you can add more figures, for example, the Three Wise Men with their pack animals: elephant, camel, and Arabian horse:

The nativity figures are about 10 cm tall, so not too big to take up much space and large enough that the work doesn’t become too fiddly.

In the patterns, I noted for each figure which yarn and how much of it I used. This gives you a guide and helps you estimate which of your leftover yarn you can use for your figures.

I hope you enjoy crocheting your Christmas nativity scene!

By the way, patterns for shepherds, sheep, and the Christmas angel are also available in my shop.

Have you met the “Scrap Eaters” gang yet? They love your leftover yarn and can’t wait to be turned into something creative. They’re a big hit at kids’ birthday parties when every child gets to take one of these “Scrap Eaters” home. They’re perfect for storing pens or other little treasures.

Everyone who enjoys crafting has leftover yarn. So what should you do with it? Here are my colorful mix of suggestions. For more information and the pattern, simply click on the heading.

I hope you have lots of fun with your new craft project.
Best wishes from Ina

Universal Loop for the whole family

It comes in 3 sizes: for children, women, or men. The loop for kids only needs 100 g of yarn—maybe you have that in your leftover stash?

The women’s loop only needs 150 g—maybe you still have some left from a larger project?

Or would you rather crochet doll clothes from your leftovers? That takes even less yarn, and in no time you’ve conjured up something pretty. Little girls love these clothes for their dolls.

And if you prefer knitting to crocheting, you can of course also knit doll outfits from the leftover yarn. Maybe this pretty ball gown?

This tablecloth was made from lots of colorful leftover yarn. Individual flowers are crocheted, and in the last round each flower is attached directly to the previous one. That way, your tablecloth grows with every flower, and you only stop when your scrap box is empty or the tablecloth has become big enough.

Dishcloths are very popular right now. They brighten up any kitchen and also help protect the environment because they’re very durable.

The pattern here is a great way to combine different cotton yarns. Each row doesn’t require many meters, so even small amounts of yarn can be used.

The pattern is explained in writing—it’s just one row—and you’ll also find a crochet chart.

Leftover yarn from potholder cotton, but also any other yarn designed for needle size 4 - 4.5, can be used wonderfully for this hanging storage basket.

The different color combinations create beautiful shading and make for a truly unique gift or small present to bring along.

Here’s the pattern

For the pattern, you should already have basic crochet skills. The star stitch pattern is explained in detail with detailed photos.

Have fun crocheting!

You can also make this cup cozy with dreamcatcher feather from leftover yarn:

The cup sleeve fits all standard 300 ml and 500 ml reusable cups, as well as large mugs and cups with handles!

The PDF pattern includes detailed instructions, a crochet chart, and many detailed step-by-step photos that make crocheting and crafting it yourself very easy, even for beginners.

Perfect as a small gift, thank-you, or little present to bring along—and so practical, too.

You only need a small amount of leftover yarn for these little booties, as you can keep changing colors.

They are crocheted using single crochet, but you should also know how to work double crochet and slip stitches. Depending on the yardage of the yarn, my booties ended up with a sole length of 8.5–10 cm.

You can crochet wash pads quickly and easily from leftover sponge yarn in the beautiful fall colors yellow, orange, red, brown, and green.
The pattern is also perfect for crochet beginners.
The clever thing about them is that the fall leaves instantly bring an autumn atmosphere to your bathroom, and their bright colors are sure to help chase away the fall blues. They also make a lovely little gift or small present for someone nice, for example together with a shower gel.
