Seriously though...
Like every year, I resolved to start early.
And like every year, I failed miserably.
I’ve got at least 10 other projects to tackle before I can even start on my Christmas crafts.
We’ll see if I manage to get anything Christmas-related done at all.
But hey, there’s always next Christmas ;)
I haven’t really gotten into it yet—that usually happens around mid-November for me—but since I mostly sew, it’s not such a big deal, because things go a bit faster at the sewing machine :-) Above all, we’re still busy renovating our apartment; right now we have to wait for an electrician to fix the wiring in the kitchen. It’s just an old house—about 100 years old—so a lot of things come to light when you’re doing a complete renovation.
Tina: Honestly, I’d be surprised if you managed to finish anything for Christmas ;-)))) The year Anton was born, there weren’t any Christmas decorations or anything like that. I just wasn’t in the right frame of mind for it.
I’m currently working on Anton’s Advent calendar, and after that comes the nativity scene; I also found a beautiful doily here—we’ll see if I can manage that too. I actually wanted to make an Advent calendar for my husband too, but that’s not that important. :-)
Other than that, there’s just a wreath for the door waiting to be finished, which has nothing to do with Christmas. So I’m totally in Christmas mode
This year, too... Christmas? Still ages away...
Christmas—I’ll think about whether I’ll make something.
Christmas (now feeling a bit panicked, since I still have neither an idea nor the materials for it).
Pushing the thought aside: First, I have to finish one or more other projects.
I’ll admit, Christmas still feels light-years away for me. I know there’s a specific date on the calendar, and the stores are already stocked with marzipan and speculoos cookies. But for now, I’m just enjoying the colorful fall!
I feel exactly the same way, Ina. I’m still putting Christmas way, way off in the distance. The “dark” season is long enough as it is, so I’m still enjoying the wonderful sunshine while it lasts—as long as it shows its face, since the weather is constantly changing. We’re not getting temperatures higher than 15–17 degrees. It might start snowing soon, but not yet—so autumnal crochet motifs and dolls are what’s in demand right now.
Everything in its own time. I’ll start in November—whatever’s finished will be used for decorations or given as gifts. If it’s not done by Christmas, that’s okay—there’s always another Christmas season next year, so I’ll just save it for then.
I also think it’s awful that Christmas treats are already being sold everywhere in the stores. That takes all the fun out of looking forward to the holiday season.
To be honest: I actually always put off thinking about Christmas. This year, only one person is getting a handmade gift. My mom’s partner is getting knitted socks. Since he wears a size 47 and I’m expecting some hiccups while knitting (I’ve already had to rip it out once because it was too wide), I’ve already started. I usually only have three evenings a week to knit, since I always have to work from Thursday through Sunday.
So, with a lot of luck, I’ll get them finished in time XD
Well, if the authors are being so slow and aren’t thinking about Christmas yet, let’s hope the customers feel the same way. Then our patterns will still be ready in time ;-)
I actually wanted to start on the gifts for my coworkers, but then three babies were suddenly born among my friends, plus there are birthdays coming up, and yesterday I needed a little something to bring along… In any case, it’s not because of the yarn—it’s already waiting patiently to be used!
I’m in the same boat as Tina. Once again, I “started early”—which means I haven’t started at all!
On top of that, I’m still struggling with my stubborn bag. Luckily, it’s already finished; there’s just one little detail left to figure out. And I’m already writing the pattern.
And then Halloween is coming up! And fall decorations, too!
My calendar has been reminding me for the past two weeks. I’ve already looked over and printed out the patterns for some Christmas gifts. I have the yarn ready—now I’m just waiting for fall weather with rain and gray skies...
Hmm, Christmas? Yeah, you can already buy the first gingerbread cookies in stores—how awful; it really takes the mood out of making your own. Especially not right now.
I already have a few ideas for Christmas, but first I need to finish a special UFO.
