Need some creativity!

Hi everyone, I’ve been crocheting a door wreath for a friend’s daughter for quite some time now.

Somehow I’m lacking that spark of inspiration on how to proceed.
Of course, the name still needs to go on it. Luckily, it’s a short name.  Either it goes on the forklift or on the wreath, at the top or bottom.
What do you think?

Do you have any ideas for the decoration?

I was wondering whether I should crochet some ivy and sew it around it…

I’m kind of stuck right now.

Lots of little packages that the forklift can carry—how about that as decoration for the wreath? Plus a few men and women in overalls driving the forklift, and maybe a few tools?

I’d put the name on the side of the forklift (on the red background)—that way, it’ll look like the forklift company’s logo.

As for decorations, I definitely wouldn’t use ivy or flowers. The decorations have to fit the forklift theme. Maybe you could add some small tires (crochet around plastic curtain rings with dark gray yarn). Or traffic signs related to the “loads” theme.

I’m thinking of pallets with small boxes stacked on them.

Hi Sandra,
  • Why does the girl like the forklift?
  • What would she like to transport with it?
         Sacks, bags, boxes????

Maybe you can come up with something.

I’d like a tree on the right—I think yellow just needs a touch of green.

Since it’s a door wreath, I’d embroider the name on top.
Tires or even packages would be a nice addition.

If you know what the recipient likes, you could crochet those in as well.

I agree with Marion’s thoughts. It’s pretty unusual for a girl to be interested in forklifts. Maybe you can figure out what sparked her interest.

Well, like Monika, I’d also embroider the name on top. I like Ina’s idea with the tires (you could attach them to the right side of the ring).
For the forklift itself, you could crochet two small boxes (by crocheting around foam rubber rectangles). Or build a small box out of popsicle sticks and glue it on.
A little crocheted lady in overalls would look great next to the forklift.

There are countless possibilities—it’s hard to choose. Good luck!

Thank you very much for the ideas. Luckily, I won't need it until December, so I can still tinker with it. :-) I like the idea of pallets, crates, and tires.

The wreath is meant for her 1st birthday. So there aren't that many preferences yet.

The parents work with forklifts professionally, and she'll inevitably grow up with them.

That's how the idea came about.

As an idea, maybe transport the candle with the “1” in this package—perhaps a transparent one—and then put the “1” on the cake...

I’m so uncreative. Anyway, I found a pattern for the letters. I think they turned out well. Well, and then I tried my hand at a pallet. But you have to say that it’s a pallet. :-(

Boxes as appliqué are just squares—that’s kind of silly too.

Help, I’m completely stumped.

You could make pallets out of the craft sticks (which you already used for the forklift) by gluing several together. And if the packages aren’t too big (matchbox size or even smaller), they could even be 3-dimensional! That goes for the pallets, too, by the way. Then they’ll be easier to recognize.
If you don’t want to crochet a driver, you could also put a Playmobil figure in the forklift (it should be the right size)
I’d space the letters a little farther apart.

I really had a blind spot there. I didn’t even think of the matchbox at all, and I somehow forgot about the craft sticks too.

Thanks
