I bought myself three beautiful lightweight knit fabrics; I’m going to sew sweaters from them this weekend for fall. Knitting just isn’t my thing at the moment. The one on top is rib knit fabric

Akela, I really like your fabrics. So far, I just haven’t dared to try knit fabric, even though my machine is set up for it and I also have a serger. I’m especially hesitant about sewing on cuffs… Do you have a good tip?

Here’s the best way to sew on a cuff: Cut the cuff to the desired width, with a length about 15–20% shorter than the circumference of the garment—that way, you can stretch it slightly so it fits nicely. I place the cuff folded with the right sides together, with the cut edge facing out, on the sleeve or neckline (cut edge), and sew it on with a seam allowance the width of the presser foot. If you’re not comfortable using the overlocker right away, you can sew it on with a sewing machine first—that way, you can still adjust the cuff as you sew. For beginners, I recommend pinning the cuff in place first and adjusting its *fullness* as you pin it, then sewing it, and only then using the overlocker to neaten the edges. That way, you’ll be on the safe side. I hope this helps; if you have any questions, just ask. Here, we’re having hiking days this weekend with routes of various lengths.

We’ll be joining the 10 km hike tomorrow. Hopefully it won’t be too hot.

We have a weekend with no plans ahead of us. Let’s see what we come up with.

I’m looking forward to knitting or crocheting—I haven’t decided yet which of my many UFOs I’ll work on next. All week long, I haven’t really had a chance to sit back, relax, and do some needlework. 

I have to work this weekend. But starting Monday, we’ll have two weeks of vacation. We’re heading out next Sunday—we’re going back to the Hardangerfjord, where we’ve rented a little cabin. Let’s see what the weather’s like; it’ll finally be time to relax and sleep in. Explore the area, and so on…
I definitely can’t leave home without my beautiful, colorful Bobbel yarn and my crochet hook. I’ll have plenty of time then.

Yesterday we went for a nice run. 

Today we had visitors first and then were invited to a barbecue. 
And we got the first handmade baby set :)
