We had a thunderstorm last night and rain until this morning. That feels so good after the past few days. Now the sun is coming out, and it looks like it’s going to be a sunny day.

We’re going to enjoy it.

Right now, I’m baking my first zucchini cake. Let’s see if I found a good recipe online.

I’m also hoping for a nice weekend.

I’m curious to see if the thunderstorm they’re forecasting will actually happen.
Yesterday, about 16,000 hectares of grain fields burned down here just as a combine harvester was about to harvest them.
The harvester must have caught fire somehow.

I don’t have any plans—I’ll just see what the day brings.

Let me correct myself: 16,000 m² were on fire—even that area was already quite large.

Yes, when it burns, it really burns. It’s pretty shocking what a fire can destroy.

Today it’s “only” 29 degrees here. :-)
There’s a light breeze, and it’s really pleasant. We’re having a barbecue tonight.

Yesterday, a friend wrote to me saying she noticed that there’s at least one handmade item of mine in every room. That includes embroidered towels that are at least 15 years old.
That made me so happy. She can’t do any needlework herself, but she always appreciates my work.

A guest once said to me:
“You knit and crochet everything that doesn’t make it up a tree by the count of three.” That really made me laugh, because it’s kind of true when I think about my flowerpots wearing crocheted “dresses” and my tissue box being covered in crochet. Well, and there are all sorts of other things standing and hanging around everywhere too.
Funny!

Things are pretty laid-back for me, too. No visitors planned—just relaxing and doing some crafts. Well, I still need to harvest and process the damsons and blackberries in the garden. So tomorrow, after breakfast, I’ll bake a plum cake with crumble topping. Then we’ll make ourselves comfortable in the garden that afternoon. We’ll just enjoy the summer.

Unfortunately, I have to work in these temperatures. Here in Norway, it’s going to be 32 degrees tomorrow, too.
But I did have Friday off, and I was already sitting on the patio early in the morning while it was still cool and shady, continuing to crochet my vest—totally relaxed with a cup of cappuccino.

Monika: At our house, you’ll hardly find anything homemade—except in Anton’s room. My husband thinks it’s terrible. :-)

Well, luckily I have a friend I can give gifts to. :-)

Since it was a bit cooler today, Anton pulled some weeds. 


We still need to work on his stamina, though. :-)

Ah... then I misunderstood something, Sandra. So your friend is the lucky one you’re crocheting for... Just like mine... :-) Luckily, I have a husband who thinks it’s great now, too. At first, it took him a while to get used to it.

Maybe your husband associates it with doilies and the like at his grandparents’. That used to be so common back then, and I didn’t like it at all either. Oh well, at least you can still go all out with Anton. :)
