Your current favorite material?

Dear users, dear designers,
in keeping with yesterday’s thread about current favorite colors, today I’d like to know which material you currently prefer.
Tell me a bit about it.

For me, it’s definitely beads right now—whether shiny or matte, colorful or metallic.
I spent two weeks working on a design and finally finished it, but then unfortunately realized I was missing a few colors to actually make it. Of course,
I ordered new beads right away, and now I’m eagerly waiting for the mailman to see if I’ll get them today so I can finally get started.
The anticipation is huge, and it makes me feel like a little kid :)

I’d be curious to know if there’s anyone else who gets this excited when new craft supplies arrive. Or do you still buy your supplies the old-fashioned way, at a little shop right in town?

I buy all my materials at the craft store near me. But I know that feeling of being totally excited, like a little kid getting new stuff: First, I write down what materials I need, then there’s that incredibly loooong walk (15 minutes) to the yarn store, and then picking out the materials and getting advice. And then that loooong walk home again, until I can finally get started... usually some household chore gets in the way, like cooking or ironing, until I’m finally ready, or some appointment comes up, or I can’t get to the yarn shop until the next day because it’s closed right now... But doesn’t the saying go, “Anticipation is the greatest joy?”

Right now, I’m working with bamboo yarn, which I’ve rediscovered.
Otherwise, I’m using a 3-ply cotton-polyacrylic blend.

I like to crochet with cotton yarns, and those yarn cakes that are 50% cotton and 50% acrylic

But I feel the same way when I order something online (here in Norway, I can’t get everything I want in the few craft and needlework shops, or at least not such beautiful colors), I’m always really excited and keep wondering when it will finally arrive. It’s funny how excited you get, like a child waiting for Christmas presents.
But my husband is exactly the same when he orders parts for his bike. We both have our hobbies. I think that’s nice.
