Woolly Wednesday: Leftover yarn or yarn scraps or stash yarn?

Dear users, dear authors,
how is the yarn doing?
When you talk about your leftover yarn, do you say leftover yarn or yarn scraps or more like stash yarn? How does that vary by region?

Yesterday I went through my leftover yarn and took a photo of most of it. Here’s my list:
950 g acrylic yarn

350 g mohair yarn

400 g fluffy yarn

700 g Rowan cotton yarn

400 g Lanoso Donna
 100 g virgin wool

850 g sock yarn

200 g cotton chenille

Approx. 3500 g cotton yarn

700 g various single skeins

= Approx. 8150 g yarn

Plus the skeins that are still hiding somewhere....

Wow :-)
If you’ve used up all of that by the end of the year, I’ll give you tons of karma points and some awesome titles.

I live in the beautiful Black Forest and always call them “leftover yarn.” (Though I don’t think the other options are absurd or anything ;))

I don’t actually have that many leftovers right now.
Or does wool that you bought at some point because it was sooo great—and that’s still lying around years later—also count as leftovers? ;)

No, this is unloved yarn / formerly the “stepchild” yarn / yarn that’s still waiting for the right idea or inspiration / yarn that hasn’t yet figured out its purpose in life = yarn on a journey of self-discovery.

Pick something (a name and some yarn, too), make something pretty with it, and I’ll bestow fame and glory upon you during the monthly awards ceremony.

:D I’ll go through my stash tonight and see what I can come up with.
I’m already rummaging around, trying to figure out what to make next anyway

Oh wow, Mel, that’s quite a nice assortment of “leftover yarn.” Impressive! :-)

For me, yarn scraps are partially used balls or small leftovers.
To me, leftover yarn is what remains from a larger project—for example, several balls.

I don’t think that really depends on the region.

I feel the same way as Monika.
For me, the small bits left over are leftover yarn. I save that too, since you can always whip up a little something with it—even if it’s just a small appliqué.

For me, "Restwolle" is a bit more than that. Sometimes it’s whole balls left over from a project. But they’re still great for trying out new ideas. (All photos are my own)
