English Pattern

I signed up here in your forum hoping that you could help me with a problem.
I’m crocheting a bat and found an English pattern. Normally I get along well with “patterns,” but this one section (it’s supposed to become the wing in a triangular shape) is really getting on my last nerve.
I’d be very grateful for your help : )

Oh, Michaela, I’m so sorry. So what I don’t understand at all is:

Row 1: ch 5, form a ring. (Ch4, 3dc, ch2, 3dc, ch1, dc) into the ring

Row 2: Ch4, 3dc into ch1 space ...(etc)...


So. What do they mean by “space”.... I mean, where am I supposed to put the chain stitches and the 3 double crochets???? 

Let me translate that for you.

Chain 5 and join to form a ring (probably with a slip stitch). 

Chain 4, then work 3 double crochets into the ring, chain 2, work another 3 double crochets into the ring, chain 1, and work 1 double crochet into the ring. 

Next row:
Turn, chain 4, then work 3 double crochets around the next chain stitch. 

“Space” means gap. In this case, you crochet 3 double crochets around the gap. In an English pattern, this would probably be written as "... around the next chain stitch" or "... around the chain-space".
