It doesn’t take much to turn your Barbie doll into a mermaid: a little cotton yarn, a crochet hook, and basic crochet skills. The shell stitch pattern for the fishtail isn’t difficult and is also explained in detail in the pattern. If you want it to be extra sparkly, you can sew or glue a few beads or sequins onto your fishtail.

Mermaid Marina lives underwater and only very rarely lets herself be seen. She is about 40 cm tall and has a glittery fishtail. Shells form the top, and pink water lilies decorate her blue, flowing hair. To make her easier to decorate with, there is flexible wire in her arms and tail.
I crocheted Marina using the following materials:
  • 1 skein Rico Baby classic (yardage 165 m/50g) skin-colored (color 038)
  • 1 skein each Rico Baby Glitz (yardage 165 m/50g) mint and aqua (colors 004 and 001)
  • 1 skein blue mohair yarn (aerea by Junghans Wolle) for the hair
  • Leftovers: thin cotton yarn (Catania fine) in white, light pink, pink, hot pink,
  • Leftover glitter yarn (Gründl) silver gray
  • 2.5 mm crochet hook
  • 2.0 mm crochet hook
  • Polyester fiberfill for stuffing
  • 1 thick sewing needle for weaving in ends and sewing the pieces together
  • 1 sharp embroidery needle for embroidering the face
  • Embroidery floss in black, pink
  • 2 pieces of chenille wire (pipe cleaners), each about 35
You can also use any other yarn, but that may change the size.

The hobby horse unicorn Violetta is a unicorn for cuddling, riding, and dreaming.

I crocheted it from cuddly yarn to make it especially soft and plush. In the pattern, I give you lots of tips on how to crochet with this yarn. But of course you can also use a similarly thick “normal” yarn.
To make the stick soft too, I used a pool noodle instead of a wooden handle. That way no one can get hurt, and the furniture stays intact too, even when things get really wild.

You can find details about the materials used and the pattern HERE!

Crochet Pattern "Unicorn Hand Puppet"

Unicorn with a difference.....With this wonderful hand puppet, you’ll make children’s eyes light up. Hand puppets stimulate children’s imagination and creativity. Also recommended as therapy puppets. They can be quickly made with a few bits of leftover yarn.

Materials needed without mane:
  • approx. 85 g yarn for recommended needle size 4 (here with a yardage of 238 m/100 g)

This owl is especially loved by children because it guards the room door. The owl is easy to crochet, and leftover yarn is enough. Well suited for beginners with basic skills.

Cute, Sleepy Owl “Lilibeth”

Little Lilibeth the owl is so tired that she’s already put on her nightcap and, with her blanket tucked under her wing, is marching straight to her little bed. The pattern is free and suitable for beginners. A great pattern with lots of cute details!

If you like owls and associate jumping jacks with fond childhood memories, you’ll love this jumping jack owl! When you pull the string, it’s not just the wings that lift—the wings and tail also fan out, just like a real owl! And when the owl isn’t being played with, it simply makes a beautiful decoration.

The Jumping Jack Owl is made of cardstock, measures approximately 22.5 x 27.5 cm, and is very sturdy. You don’t need any special skills to make this owl—just a little patience and some basic crafting experience.
