Knitting pattern shawl / wrap "Mellon"

This wonderful big wrap is an ideal accessoire for many occasions, for example as an addition to a light blazer or at mild spring or autumn days.

Needed materials:

• approx. 1200 – 1300 metres [1308 – 1417 yds] of laceweight to sport weight yarn [approx. 345 g / 12.07 oz]
• at least 2 circular needles of the same size because the stitches have to rest on a yarn holder for parts of the pattern. I advise an interchangeable needle system. The needle size has to be matched to the yarn used
• stitch markers
• sewing needle
• scissors

Techniques used:

• knit
• purl
• increase
• decrease
• yarn over

Finished size after blocking approx. 220 x 68 cm [86.60 x 26.77 in].

Gauge 25 stitches x 49 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 in] in garter stitch. Diagonal (measured from neckside to
bottom side) 38 rows = 10 cm [4 in].

The chosen yarn should not be thicker than sport weight and its yardage has to be converted accordingly. Very thin lace yarn gives a lighter and smaller wrap.
Even leftovers can be used for this wrap.
