Knitting pattern cowl Nelthil

Produktbeschreibung

Nelthil means "triangle" in the language of the Elves in J.R.R. Tolkiens World of Middle-Earth.
This amazing cowl always drapes perfectly! Thanks to its special shape, it always stays put without additional shawl pins or brooches. During the colder season, the cowl keeps reliably warm and makes a nice-looking accessory.

Needed materials:

  • Approx. 120 gr [4.2 oz] of aran or chunky weight yarn (approx. 250 m [273 yds])
  • Circular knitting needle size 6mm [US10]
  • Stitch marker
  • Scissors
  • Sewing needle

The cowl is knitted bottom-up, started from only a few stitches at the bottom point. It is worked in back-and-forth rows which will be joined into the round at the nape. Its shape is achieved by increasing and decreasing regularly.

Finished size after blocking: approx. 63 cm [24.8 in] (length) x 30 cm [11.8 in] (width at the neckside)
Gauge: 16 stitches x 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm [4 in], stockinette stitch, on 6mm [US10] needles

Techniques used:

  • Basics
  • accented decrease
  • brioche

The pattern runs 7 pages, it contains a written pattern and detailled charts. Skill level easy to intermediate.

Please note my copyright. Items crochet from this pattern can be sold in a small amount after consulting the designer.
