Free crochet pattern for a Holiday sock

The Holiday Sock

The holiday sock is the perfect accessory to enhance your festive atmosphere. With its traditional design, it adds a cozy and festive touch to your home.

The holiday stocking is generously sized to hold all your surprises and gifts. Whether hung on the wall, above the fireplace, or under the Christmas tree, it will create a touch of Christmas cheer.

Give the crocheted holiday stocking to your loved ones or treat yourself. It can complete your Christmas decorations year after year.

The pattern for the “Holiday sock” are only permitted for private use. It may not be sold, forwarded, reproduced, published, translated into other languages, exchanged with other pattern or modified as your own pattern or passed on or sold.

The sale of the finished sock, which was created with the help of these pattern, is permitted provided the designer (Gutherz - Doreen Goedhart) is named. The seller must add this note to the item description and the product sold.

This pattern is suitable for: Beginners /Advanced

Abbreviations: (You should master this basic knowledge.)

Rd = round
Row = row
sc = single crochet  
ch = chain
slst = slip stitch
inc = increase (2 sc in 1 sc)
dec = decrease/crochet 2 stitches together
tch = turning chain
CC = Color change

At the beginning you will find the number of the respective row/round.

The number of stitches in the completed row/round is in the brackets at the end.

Required material:

Crochet hook:
NS 5 mm and 6 mm (If you use a different size and/or wool, the size of the finished sock can change.)

Wool:
- Chenille yarn in red (1 1/2 ball of wool) and leftovers in white (1/2 ball of wool) (100 g/ 100-120 m, e.g. Himalaya Dolphin Baby)
- Fur wool in white (approx. 50 g/75 m, e.g. YarnArt Mink)
Tip: If you can't cope with fur wool (and thread), you can also use Chenille yarn as an alternative.
- Cotton yarn in white (as a supplementary thread, 50 g/50 m, e.g. Schachenmayr Catania)

In addition:
Scissors, sewing needle, stitch marker

 

Pattern:

The size of the finished sock with the materials specified is approx. 41 cm in height and approx. 24 cm in width.
The individual parts of the sock are crocheted in rows. After each row, a tch is crocheted, which is skipped in the next row and is not counted as a stitch.

Left side, starting in red (NS 5 mm):

You can cut and sew in the white thread. Continue crocheting only with the red thread.

Cut the thread and pull it through the last st, tighten and fasten.

Both sock parts are now placed on top of each other, with the back facing inwards. Now re-needle at the front corner of the top opening (on the side the sock is facing) and crochet around the sock with single crochet stitches until you reach the other side of the top opening again. Now crochet 10 ch, with which you form a loop for hanging by crocheting a sl st in the first st of the ch chain on the sock.

Tip: You can add a nice accent to your sock by using yarn in a different color.

Fur brim (Fur wool, NS 6 mm):

The upper fur part is crocheted in spiral rounds.
Tip: Use a thread to see the loops better.

Now use fur wool to needle the first stitch on the right at the top edge of the sock (next to the eyelet for hanging), re-knit and crochet along this in the round:

1. Rd: inc, 20 sc, inc, skip the seam from crocheting together and crochet on the back part the sock continues:
inc, 20 sc, inc (48)

2.-13. Rd: 48 sc (12 rounds) (48)

1 sl st, cut the thread, pull it through the last loop, tighten and sew. Now fold the fur part down (outside).
