Knitting a bikini—who does that, and why?

Dear knitters, who dares to knit a bikini, and why would anyone do that? What’s the point? You wear a bikini when it’s warm, right? So why go to the trouble of knitting one to make it even warmer? Do you wear a knitted bikini under your clothes to make your bust or butt look bigger or firmer? So my real question is—what’s the point?

If you knit or crochet the bikini out of cotton, it’s not going to be warm anyway, so you can wear it just like any other bikini—except, of course, you can’t go swimming in it :-)

hello ladies
we already had a topic once about crocheting a bikini top and suchCrocheting a bikini top - out of wool - seriously?
https://www.crazypatterns.net/de/forum/topic/376/bikini-top-haekeln-aus-wolle-ernsthaft

so, if your butt or breasts are supposed to look bigger
then a wool bikini wouldn’t be my first choice
after all, there’s good shapewear or push-up stuff for that, not just for the breasts, but also for the butt.
Or there are also specially cut jeans that create great curves.

the point and purpose is that you can lie around in the sun and look good
but I wouldn’t want to wear a wool bikini either.

A wool bikini—that's really interesting o:
It probably wouldn’t be my thing, but it’s definitely something new!

Hi. I crocheted a tankini. Simply so I’d have something different to wear outside. And something that suits my figure. I often have the problem that store-bought items in that category don’t fit the way I’d like them to. You don’t sweat in it—at least, no more than you would in other summer clothes. In general, people make or wear things like that simply to have something special on. And depending on how you make it by hand, it can be a nice eye-catcher under a blouse when you’re out in the evening. It looks a bit more elegant in wool than if you were wearing a regular bikini top.

I crocheted one too, but back then I was still slim and really liked wearing it for sunbathing.

It’s way too cold to be thinking about bikinis right now ;-)
Give me scarves, blankets, coats, and even more blankets. ;-)
