Crocheting a bikini top—out of wool—seriously?

it looks really nice, but it's probably not something you'd wear into the water
I've got nothing against crocheted, knitted, or sewn things

otherwise I wouldn't be here in the forum
but I prefer to buy swimwear ready-made.

as long as you don't go into the water with it, it's a great thing.

In my subjective opinion, for swimming you should wear something made of Lycra. In other words, something that holds its shape, won’t soak up too much water, and will still keep its shape in the water.
It definitely makes sense to slip into dry clothes after swimming. And a wool bikini is certainly a good choice for that. 

Wool bikinis wouldn’t be my thing, whether for swimming or for sunbathing.

Let’s say someone actually wanted to crochet or knit their own underwear—not swimwear.
What kind of wool or yarn would they need to use?
I’m not going to do this myself; it’s just a theoretical question.

Is there actually anyone here on the forum who sews underwear?

I like my underwear best made of cotton

neither made of wool nor anything else
but theoretically you could go on a beach holiday somewhere far, far away where the sun shines

For a bikini, you use a stretchy yarn that dries quickly and is water-repellent.
